It’s like watching the same bad movie over and over again:why:
It really is like watching the ravens coaching staff with Dean pees on defense from 2012-17 and cam Cameron on offense from 2008-12. Same bad mistakes in the same situations every game for years on end that are so predictable you can set your watch to it and yet nobody does anything about it for 20+ years. Every other team knows exactly how to beat them except for the twins but Hal just keeps letting the ship sink.

There’s 3 other guys total who’ve blown 10 saves in a season over the last 11-12 years while no Yankee reliever has done that since the late 80’s and yet this team isn’t even discussing demoting Holmes even as he serves up a walk off grand slam to a rookie. DJ has been one of the worst players ever this season and he’s a regular in the lineup. Verdugo has been one of the 5 worst hitters in baseball for 4 months and they refuse to consider replacing him with their top prospect when the stopgap isn’t even under contract for next year. They haven’t had an actual left fielder playing left field in 6 years. Haven’t had an actual centerfielder in centerfield in just as long. Recently went basically 4 straight years without a shortstop even on the roster. At some point the league office has to step in and force Hal to make changes. You really have to look deep to find any team in pro sports run as poorly as this team.

Boone on fukkin drugs :laff:

Umpire felt sorry for Holmes giving him those 2 strikes in the Langford at-bat because of how terribly he was struggling all inning…goddamn.

Then he got lucky Langford only fouled off the high slider, and finally left the slider right over the middle for the no doubt bomb.

I don’t even get mad when watching this bullpen anymore…especially Holmes.

I turned it off as soon as he gave up the first walk. Knew he was gonna walk in the winning run or serve up a long ball. He makes present day Craig Kimbrel look like Mariano by comparison. Tonight was their 8th loss of the season when leading in the 9th or later. Only the 51-88 Rockies have more at 9.

stuff's there. throwing the ball well. got the first guy out. Just didn't finish the guys off.

need his excellence.

Had some week long stretches where he's struggled last year. Hasn't had many of those this year

These are real quotes.

I'm still confused: why isn't Dominguez on this roster?
Cashman is manipulating service time to ensure an extra year of control and give himself a shot at a first round pick if he’s rookie of the year next season and because he refuses to admit Verdugo is terrible and shouldn’t be on the team to begin with.

they're past this. It's not even about that anymore.

They don't want to "lose" Verdugo. and Verdugo has attained such protection in the lineup because of who backs him.

If they’re not benching one of the two worst hitters in baseball because Judge believes in him, then the Yankees have crossed into 2003-10 Cleveland cavaliers organizational levels of inept.

Verdugo and Holmes are two free agents that by all accounts shouldn't be brought back. Therefore, their feelings shouldn't factor in as much as it does. He doesn't need to justify their existence. The wild shyt with Holmes is that the last couple of years, they've pulled him from the closer role to get his mind right and get his shyt together and eventually he got his job back. Had they pulled him from the role, maybe he goes back to the 7th or 8th and DOMINATES and then gets his spot back. Why they're not trying it now only boils down to one thing: they don't wanna cut off that option just in case Soto walks. They're always showing you what the plan is in case doomsday happens. They even pulled Gleyber for a couple of days just to get right and then he played a little better. Now he's trying to salvage what's left of his yankee career.

Closer's gonna be such a problem to fill since they traded the likeliest guy to take that spot (Medina). Clayton Beeter might have to be that guy.

BT going off on Holmes on the FAN right now. Hilarious. lol
I hope it’s not just Holmes they’re going at. This is the same team that refused to cut or bench Josh Donaldson, IKF, Aaron hicks, Stephen Drew, or anyone else for ages no matter how bad they were. Same team that let Andrew Heaney cost them 4-7 games down the stretch in 2021 when he should never have been on the team in the first place (he had a 5.25 ERA when they traded for him). Same team that traded for Joey Gallo when he was the last type of hitter they needed and then brought him back after he hit to a .149/.283/.382 triple slash after the break. Even if they get rid of Holmes, this group of people in charge would just bring in someone as bad or even worse to replace him to try proving a point.
