I would like to see them resign Randle and get Kawhi next year.

And Bron is going to want to overhaul the entire roster. They have a great core, why fukk it up. They would also have a much better chance of moving deng next year.

I don't think we will have the cap space to get PG (with Lebron and Kawhi) unless we can get off Deng. I'm getting the impression there is no way the Spurs are taking Deng, but we also don't have many other useful salaries to include as trade filler. I think that's why we are trying to trade for a first and/or take on salary.

But.... if we don't have the cap for PG, we could end up keeping Randle and filling out the roster better.

My understanding is that since the Lakers are so far under the cap that if they do this trade after July 1st then they don't have to match salaries since they can absorb the difference into cap space.

I posted earlier that the Spurs could just try and rebuild the relationship with Kawhi throughout the season. The pressure is really on Magic and the Lakers and whether they cave or not.
