Why did they get out of boxing? Did it stop being lucrative?
It has been 6 years since HBO stopped airing boxing. I miss it dearly. HBO called some absolute BANGERS back in the day. (Vargas vs Trinidad)

Too many factors to really sum it up and the person who made the decision at hbo was not a boxing fan
Yea that was a stupid decision. Ive always associated HBO with boxing. Even with Jim Lampley obviously bias commentary at times
nobody fights top tier opponents anymore. maybe once a year

Ever since Floyd Mayweather made a big deal about his undefeated boxing record, every decent fighter has been super careful about which fights they accept.
Guys fight less often and take way fewer risks because the perception is that once they lose, it kills their ability to get the big money.
