Their entire model is built on free trials and people signing up for ONE show, then hoping people forget to cancel (which millions will). That type of grimy bottom feeder model isn’t sustainable.

They’re desperate af. Like now not all these shows pause in the middle of the season for a few months. So you can sit at home and say ahh fukk i’ll wait to cancel until this season is over. They really that desperate

The thing is, theres nothing really stopping gaming companies from stripping us of those rights whenever they see fit. If they want to put us on a subscription service and decide how much and how often we can play those games and like disney and netflix has been doing, taking those games off the service indefinitely. theres nothing we’ll be able to do about it at that point, just like we can’t with music and video.

If one day Spotify decides Michael jackson is problematic and bad for business we lose access to those songs. Just like if microsoft decides to phase out physical games and then decides games wiht licensed music are no longer eligible for download.

You are literally surrendering what little control you have to these companies all for the sake of saving a couple bucks in the immediate future. Long term its inevitable they we lose more control over the products and services we pay for

I had one copy of photoshop from like junior year of highschool until i graduated college and started working. Now I have to pay for photoshop every single month for upgrades i don’t even need and they are most likely sharing my data since i gotta be online
Gaming has evolved into disposable media like many other things. People used to collect Blu-Rays and DVDs for shows and movies. The tech evolved and now people don't really buy them like that. Some people will cling to the old ways but many just shrug their shoulders and accept the new normal. If Spotify pulls an album it's whatever. I don't purchase individual music anymore and haven't for almost the last decade. When I was a kid I'd spend in a month or 2 what I spend for an entire year on Spotify easy just buying individual CDs or before then cassette tapes. Now for less than $100 a year I get access to 10s of millions of songs. More than I could ever buy.

When it comes to entertainment media buying individual media is always the most expensive path. The transition to digital has as a side effect conditioned people to view media as disposable. I don't think average person is maintaining multiple different downloaded backups of all their digital games on multiple SSDs at different sites in the event a company they purchased a digital license from yanks access to that content. If they do buy their content digitally they use it for a time and move on. In video games the remake will make the original obsolete to the masses anyway.

It's even further along with TV. People predominantly wait for it to come to one of their steaming services. After they consume the content they move on and when it's pulled it's loss isn't really even mourned by the masses. This is just the way it's headed. There are whole TV series now that if pulled from streaming are gone forever. That's just the way it is.

Netflix has 235M subscribers
Prime Video is north of 200M
Disney+ has 157M
Apple TV + has around 40M

Peacock 22M
Paramount+ 60M
Max 80M

Here's what's gonna happen, Apple is gonna buy Disney.

Paramount Max and Peacock are gonna merge.

You'll have the big 4. All within 160M to 250M subscribers.

fukk streaming, cable, network TV and whatever else — I opted out like 7 years ago and haven't looked back. Would rather deal with the "headache" of managing the content my damn self

goddamn YouTube content creators (a select few) lowkey/highkey been killing it for like 2-4 years when it comes to the sheer production value of their stuff

Man fukk dealing with those shady sites. I'm basically just paying for the UI and good app development.

That's where Peacock messed up. The app is so trash id rather just deal with the other sites
