:unimpressed: sums up my entire viewing experience.

When the first one came out I already said it was a good movie despite Andy Muschietti's utter lack of skill, and this one doubled down on it. This guy has no fukking clue how to direct horror whatsoever, and for whatever reason thinks a lot of shaking and goofy movements are "scary". Nearly all of the intended scary scenes fall completely flat because he's completely tonedeaf, only emphasized because he also has no eye for monster design either since outside of Pennywise all the monsters look dumb as shyt and CGI as fukk.

Then this shyt just drags like a motherfukker. The middle part which consists of each character's 'personal' journey is little more than a repetition of the same scene over and over and over. And none of them fukking work!

Since the character work is a bare minimum and that stuff was largely what kept the first one afloat, it's easy to see why this ballooned up film falls completely flat.

The 36 Chambers
Ay yo this film is exactly same as chapter 1 :mjlol:

It was cool though but could've cut the time down by at least 20/30 minute...

Bill Skarsgård stole the show in every scene again:ehh:

EDIT:

Oh yeah, the scene at the Baseball game :wow:

They needed to hit us with them sort of Pennywise scenes....

My girl and I saw it. We both thought it was decent.

I thought the girl Jessica Chastain’s and James Mcavoy’s character brief adult romance never was squashed even though she went with chubby.

Mike’s history flashback was brief. What was his own personal token besides being a token himself and that random bat he had?

Wish there was more jump scares and less stalling from Pennywise, felt like he was stalling from the jump.

Did that kid really die in the funhouse or was it a ploy to get James Mcavoy character by himself.

Found it refreshing that Mike didn’t die though he was severely labeled as a liar and basically a weirdo for being obsessed with IT.

Didn’t catch the whole gay secret the one dude had till my girl explained and I was like :ohhh:

The guy that died at the end him being used to fat women was interesting how his mom was fat and dominate and his wife was fat and dominate.

My girl also pointed out to me how Jessica Chastain was in an abusive marriage cause that’s what she’s used to from her pops the abusive relationship vibe.

I think it was interesting James Macavoy character started to stutter as soon as he came back to Derry. He was then before.

I like how Pennywise plays with your fears and if you’re not scared of him you win.

8/10

Wish it was a tad bit scarier and wish his eyes had more of an effect kinda like what they did in the first film.

I do think there was an over saturation of Pennywise though which to me grew tiresome. Reminds me slightly of Sinister 2, the less Pennywise till the end woulda been better or just not seeing him truly in full form woulda been better.

Thought it was interesting how successful each one got besides Mike whose only mission was to kill Pennywise because he stayed in Derry and Mike’s younger version barely talked in this movie too.
Explain the gay secret :ohhh:

The Truth
I liked 2 more than 1
I’m seeing this more from real reviewers than critics...

Ign gave it a 7 so im already like “the movie must be an 8.5 then, since IGN reviewers are always trash”.

And I don’t trust critics for nothing, them the same ass-clowns that said “Scary stories you tell in the dark” was a great film and it was so bad we walked out

Explain the gay secret :ohhh:

Its hinted at that Richie’s got a secret, they never out right speak it but it’s implied before they confirm it at the end. There’s a scene where Richie as a kid plays video games with Bowers relative before they insult him and kick him out. At the end you see Richie carving R + E into a board with other initials implied to be couples. The E stood for Eddie.

It's ok. I don't know if it's King or the script itself, but chapter 2 focusing on the adults just doesn't work as much as chapter 1 focusing on the kids. All of the scares felt the same and had the same rhythm. I like the thematic elements and the arcs the characters went through, but something about this was off. It's ambitious as fukk and swings for the fences, but it feels like a lesser version of part 1. There's a lot of weird Stephen king shyt in here that's obviously not explained to the fullest because of how weird it is, but that hurts the narrative of the flick.

Then there's just a lot of comedy in here that defuses the scares. Sometimes that's good, but other times it's not cool at all. One scene with Eddie in particular is guilty of this and takes what was creepy as fukk and turns it into Evil Dead 2. In fact, while watching this, I thought of Evil Dead 2 a lot. Or Insidious Chapter 2. Both are more comedic versions of the movies that came before. But while Evil Dead 2 balances that out and is a true horror comedy, this one feels like insidious 2, which couldn't balance that out at all.

Bill Hader is fukking genius in it though and all of the actors do their thing. The movie is beautiful, the score is awesome, the casting is on point, and every ending for the characters feel cathartic. The third act is awesome but the first two acts strangely feel rushed and like a remix of the first movie.

The story just doesn't hit as hard and the scares all feel predictable. Still good, but not as good as chapter 1 and just feels like an ingredient was missing. Maybe it's the coming of age vibe or something coming from seeing kids in danger vs adults. Still trying to figure out where the missing connection is for me. But again, it's ok. It's not terrible by any means just doesn't live up to chapter 1

I think I know what scene you’re referring to
in the pharmacy basement where the leper pukes on his face and Angel of the Morning starts playing? :russ:

I do kind’ve Agree with your point, although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh at another comedic moment after a scare
when Eddie stabs Bowers in the chest and tells him to cut his mullet, that shyt was hilarious:mjlol:
