I'm working on my MCITP too, I've been slacking and need to finish it by the end of the year and see if I can find anything.

Been on the helpdesk for a while and I'm tired of networking printers, fixing Outlook, removing viruses, and resetting passwords. :shaq2:

Economy sucks in Michigan tho.

That's your main problem right there breh, MOVE :damn:

If your city is wack, then get the fukk up outta there. Unless you have kids that you want to be close to, there's not reason to stay. I moved from Cincinnati to Atlanta primarily because the job market in Cincinnati was so shytty.

Plus you're supposed to do everything in your power to get up outta help desk, even if it means traveling across the country.

JT you are right about that. I live in Philly and I hear the job market is good. I have my A+ cert so next step is to land a helpdesk job and study for the CCNA. Any recommendations on how I should Study? books,cbt nuggets etc

Honestly if your going the Cisco route you'll need lab time with the equipment. That's really the fastest way to break into networking. You can probably find some cheap legacy Cisco equipment online and build yourself an decent lab.

classic thread breh's; I'm in the field myself and love to see this type of shyt going in....each 1 teach 1...forever.....I just do system Analysts work at a communications company but I may look into going into that security field; DMV area what's up!

So many Government agencies, private sector companies are hiring in this region. Don't let that political non sense tell you that jobs are not hiring....they ARE!

For everybody on the up and ups, kill the thought of instant gratification. Like any technical field, this takes DISCIPLINE and I recommend goal setting if you are just starting out

the braindumps are cool but remember that you want to LEARN the skill set and use the brain dump just for review purposes

grind hard breh's grind hard;

Oh yeah video training >>>> book training to me, I have a gang of video training that I could share

grind hard!
Hell to the fukk yea. Book training just is so :snooze:

Need some A+

You're probably right breh. Had a friend I went to school with that was jobless in MI for months after he graduated (this was a few years ago), then he moved to Texas and found a job almost right away, and I think he makes more than me now. :sadcam:

But I guess the whole idea of just quitting my job and moving to another city without a job lined up or steady income is kind of scary, and I tend to be a little risk-averse. But then again I guess sticking around an area w/no jobs isn't doing myself a favor.
