Heads up for those who dont know

dont fukk with Insight Global

Majority of their postings are non existent jobs, that were probably filled months if not well over a year ago. They just fish for resumes using attractive job Descriptions to bait people. IF they actually call you, it will be to confirm your interest in a job followed by a "ill forward this over to my manager" or "I'll be in touch" before ghosting you.

The last thing they will do is ask for managerial references as a requirement to move along in the "hiring" process. Me sensing some fukkery, I provided them with fake names, numbers and emails of supposed former managers, and I pretended to be one of them. On the call they asked a few questions about "the candidate but then spent most of their time trying to establish a partnership so that they could recruit from the company listed. He calls back after 20 minutes but doesnt leave a voicemail. So clearly it wasnt actually for me but my fictional manager. He never followed up to move along the hiring process following the reference check. there was never a job to fill, just wanted free leads to upsell to.

90% of the time I'd applied through Insight Global in the past, they've been a resume black hole. But I was shocked to make it further than a "you seem like a great fit" phone screen or Linkedin message.

3rd party reruiters are shyt regadless of comapny but Insight is particularly scummy. I had time to play along and bullshyt them as hard as they bullshytted me I found out what they actuallly do with references.

Insight Global gave me my first IT traveling job as an IT lead because the recently retired military new hires didn’t want to do it.
They paid for the hotel, rental car, and per diem that we had to use. :obama:

Then they tried to pull a fast one over us and told us they would be canceling the per diem.

Told my techs about it and we all moved onto other careers.

8 certs later and them old vets still hit me up like :leon: “ okay I see you”

I've heard stories about Insight switching up on folks once they start working for them. 2 that stuck out from Reddit, were similar in that Insight changed their rate of pay on the slick , they seem to like towing the line over there.

I tend to use Reddit for researching companies because they are more reliable for reviews on a company than Glassdoor, that's a whole other load of fukkery. bishes straight canned my review of a company because it wasnt favorable.

We're moving into Azure AD so I'll be studying that soon enough. For right now, I'm just getting familiar with the principles of it

EDIT: Okta and Duo too. I should dig into them :ehh:

same breh. I just started as an "IT Engineer" recently and we're in Azure AD and use Okta. I'm trying to get more in the IAM side of things because it seems there's a bag to be made in this domain

You replied before I could edit and include Okta/Duo. I think so too as far as the domain. The shyt is vital to any successful enterprise, especially after Covid. I just need my bag to reflect that :feedme:

Had an interview today which I felt really good about. They want to see my portfolio but I'm having difficulty because my work is on old computer and I used heroku to host and they deleted my apps. I'm hoping this doesn't hurt me to bad as a portfolio wasn't required. One of the questions they asked was what forums I use to discuss tech and stuff and I almost said the coli but I know that would have been a bad look haha. I got a third interview on Monday.
For the question - Stackexchange and bleepingcomputer are good answers.

I started a job last month and we’re planning to get Okta some time in Q1 next year. I’ve missed out on a few jobs in the past because I didn’t have any experience with it. I’m going to try to master it.

Aws a difficult cert? Is it like Comptia or cisco stuff

Get both AWS and GCP certs if you can ... I'm seeing a lot of migrations to Google Cloud right now with the clients we work with at my cloud security firm. AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Associate will get you interviews by itself though frfr

Appreciate the heads up

I think for what I want to do the cloud is the better way to go. Will I get anything with the security background I have AND just a foundational AWS cert?

See this is a sign. Appreciate it.
I’ve been noticing the same trend and the progression Google Cloud is trying to make. I was just telling a coworker how I wanted to diversify my cert portfolio after getting solutions architect and get some GCP certs just to have.

It’s not too difficult. AWS just have different terms for different concepts.

Try out AWS Cloud Quest - Cloud Practitioner to really get some hands on experience making solutions.

I’m using the paid subscription to learn ML and data analytics in 2023. :blessed:
