RHCSA still collecting dust since I got it last September

these companies do not give 1 iota of a fukk about red hat certs

Absolutely nothing

Red Hat themselves turned me down for a tech support position...:mindblown:

yeah fukk them certs at this point, for real

:trash:

Maybe LPIC later on down the line, but I'm switching my focus towards cloud and networking from here n out. Tired of this VDI Administration shyt; My last couple of roles, I've been sitting around doing barely any work and resorting to home labbing to get my hands-on experience

MF really out here paying people to ride the clock. All these jobs promise you'll get exposures to all these different technologies, but as soon as I get the job...nothing but meetings, nothing, an occasional incident ticket or change request, more nothing, collect check, rinse and repeat.

Totaling 15 minutes of work for a whole week, let that sink in.

Working on securing 2nd full-time gig, probably aim for a decent paying level 1 or 2 desktop gig , that way I can at least get some action. MF use to say get out of helpdesk ASAP but that's where you'll get all your experience...albeit you wont be clearing 6 figs or anywhere near it. Seems like SysAdmin roles are where careers really stagnate.

these companies just be wanting warm bodies just n case some shyt happens. mostly alot of down time. this has been my experience with 3 different jobs so far. cant complaint about the easy money though

but it's becoming clearer that I need to supercharge my grind because I'm more than likely not going to get experience anywhere at this rate unless I home lab.

I love free money but fukk!!!:snoop:

What's your job role? I work in consultancy and got the RHCSA earlier this year. Then within a few weeks got onto project which is using RHEL on their servers and I was brought on to perform maintenance tasks on them. I had no Linux experience prior to the cert and can do the job no problem with a little googling here and there.

The Red Hat certs are the only ones which have proved valuable to me since they have practical exams so you're forced to do labs. In contrast, my AWS and Azure certs were purely theory and were absolutely useless to my career besides looking good on the end of year review.

been in a warehouse for the past 3 years, refused a "shot" and got let go last week

my old lady got me a book ...study guide for comptia A+ being a smart ass

was talking to my uncle about it and now he's like breh you better do it and take whatever help desk job you can get

last summer I got some new "clients" IT guys who will come thru on their break get their "supplies " roll a joint and skate
finished a build for my home studio and they couldn't believe it, now every time they come thru i'm being asked
when am I starting this Comptia, my girl overheard the Indian cat say it, googled it and has been adamant on me doing this instead of warehouse work
and hustling on the side...tbh they are both getting old

is this worth it brehs?

An A+ cert is completely useless tbh unless all you want to do is Help Desk. But you can get a Help desk job without so..I would say its only worth it if you absolutely know nothing about tech outside of pushing the on/off button and clicking icons to access the internet. If you really want to get into tech, you need to research on what exactly you want to do in tech.

Truthfully, without some experience it may be the only way to get your foot in. Most certs are just a way to get an interview honestly. It sucks but thats the way the game is being played.

Really your decision but you can pass both those tests without taking a course. The book and some youtube videos are more than enough.

What’s the best way to show that I have R / Rstudio skills (or let’s say any programming/cert) on LinkedIn.

I have about 1 and a half years and counting experience with it in school. And learning sql at the moment
