We are the same age, I am trying to move to security consulting next year? Which area do you focus on?
Focus for the last year or so has been vulnerability management.

Last few peojects invovled introducing a SIEM, VM solution then defining policies and proceedures, coordinating and remediating external pentest for PCI-DSS
A whole lot of documentation :francis:

After reading this thread and discussing it with some trusted friends ima try and shoot for the AWS Solutions architect cert
Nice. I would recommend Cantrill.io's course. Not only do you learn how to pass* the test, he gives you actual scenarios to go thru that mimic what you would be doing in real life. Its kinda pricy though compared to Udemy and youtube.

Yeah, I brought this Terraform course to go through. Not sure if I care to pursue the cert or not but I do want knowledge of infrastructure as code.

Nice. I use TF on the regular in my current work. Didn’t even know they had a cert lol.
We have a tool built on top of it. Abstracts too much away. I've had limited time with it and it just doesn't feel as flexible as Terraform. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to use it.

Yeah alot of people will wrap a script or something around it. TF is powerful but the mistakes you can make with it will have you out of a job

Crazy, close to 500,000 cyber security jobs available :wow:.

U.S. has almost 500,000 job openings in cybersecurity
Damn shame when plenty of inexperienced people could easily do cybersecurity work yet companies refuse to hire them. I left 2 jobs in a row because they wouldn't hire enough help. And it damn sure wasn't because of a lack of candidates. They just wanted to save money while not following any cybersecurity best practices.

I've seen so many companies robbed blind by hackers it's comical at this point. You've got so many lazy and stupid people working at companies almost any hacker can finesse them.

We routinely point out security holes big enough to drive a truck through to upper management. But do you think anyone in charge listens? They actually get rewarded for lying and claiming everything is secure.
:mjlol:
The less money they spend and procedures they have to follow the bigger their bonuses. Then when shyt hits the fan they try and deflect blame on anyone they can. That's when I hit them with all those emails we sent them warning about this issue.
:lolbron:
Good luck explaining why you refused to meet or follow through with our warnings to the Execs. Especially after lying straight to their face for months.
