So I didnt get the job with Red Hat, Yeah fukk them

I usually dont think anything of rejection but these MF contacted me on a cot damn Sunday afternoon asking if I was still interested after I applied last September.

Alot of these recruiters and HR people are wish washy and flaky as shyt. And I'm so tired of dealing with this shyt.

Next position I get, I'ma sit my ass down for a minute until I can get my weight up , bounce for a 130k+ role, stack/invest and fall back. I'm aiming for semi retirement

Soon as I get some passive income flowing

Alot of this IT/Corporate game is just people trying to out-bullshyt each other and nickle and dime each other; and that's before you get the job SMH. So never feel obligated to volunteer info about yourself (other than legal) that you think might screw you over . Omit, hold your tongue, embellish or outright lie if its gonna mean the difference between you putting food on the table. shyt is too hard out here to be puttin up with bullshyt because of "integrity". These companies will blow so much smoke up your ass about how great the company is, work culture, what skills you'll pick up, vacation days and even job duties. Play the game right back with them. Dont short yourself due to some false sense of nobility or morals. fukk that. Get yours by any means, be smart about it, and dont over-sell your abilities if you know you've never done it. all I m saying is....

If you got 14 months Exp working with Active Directory Domain Services and they ask for 2 years, Say you got 2 and a half. What ever make sense for your situation. These are just arbitrary numbers they pull out their asses, The full scope of AD DS can be learned in a 8 hour course on Udemy followed by a month of practice in a homelab.

I've had interviews where MF was pressing me about experience with this or that and when I got the job I barely used it if at all. Waste of cotdamn energy and and totally oversold the scope of the job.

My resume is SOLID. I got all the hot relevant certs that I need, and I can talk that shyt, but at the end of the day, all this shyt is a dice roll. The only thing I can control is how many dice rolls I get. MF could bush me because my beard is crooked or my webex reception is laggy during a interview. Petty shyt.

My motto is to take it seriously but don't take it personally, even though it's hard not to sometimes dealing with weak, flaky MF

Just know that nobody gives a shyt about wasting your time, selling you data, getting your hopes up, or just outright lying to you for their own gains. You owe it to yourself to reciprocate that same cutthroat mentality and play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

I aint bitter. I aint mad, I been living by my words. I just want to give some game to anybody that cares to read because I dont want them getting discouraged and giving up due to burn out. That shyt is gonna come , but it's how you deal with it. Hopefully somebody dont just see this as just some ole bullshyt i'm typing and can benefit from these words and be better prepared when the bullshyt comes.

Done.

LOL fukk nobility and morals, none of that shyt pays the bills. I've had to learn the hard way and still dealing with lessons as we speak which I'll elaborate on at a later date.

Ultimately they're all full of shyt, ESPECIALLY these job agencies. I've had jobs in the past that I know I shouldn't have been offered, but because the employer liked me they gave me a shot anyway lol. It's a numbers game in this thing and it's all about networking with the right people. Just listing a skill set you got from a 4 hour Udemy course or somebody liking your personality could literally be your gateway into earning several thousand more than you would have otherwise.

can't do the exam without an external webcam. I've gone all over the city for 2 days looking for a fukking external cam. I wish I didn't take folks advice on this. Would've been more prepared. At least...I have more time on the practice tests.

Im tired of going to IT jobs and seeing either full Asians, full white, or full Indians.

I just want a diverse mixture of people or at least 3-4 more black people to work with me. I can't stand being the only black person in my group, where you guys at? You would think living in NYC, that one could escape this but nah:mjcry:

We gotta continue to be that example so that the next group of black people interested in tech know what we're out here too. It's important to become one of the gatekeepers so that we can get more black kids in the door.

I had three job interviews last week. One is a Cloud company, the other was for a SOC position with AWS, and an animation studios company

That AWS one was brutal! I was expecting them to talk to me about my history and what I've been doing, but it was just technical questions one after another. Mostly on networking and security protocols. I don't know if it was my nerves, but my mind went blank. I wasn't able to answer most his questions. A lot of the stuff he asked me I have covered previously while studying for the CCNA and CYSA. This was stuff that I knew! After the interview ended, all the answers started flowing to my mind. The positive outcome is that I'll be more prepared next time and I won't let my nerves get to me.

The other two interviews went great. I've moved to the next round on one and waiting to hear back from the other one.

The second round one wants to me study up more on Linux/Unix - things about the permissions, why it's used ad etc.. I'm pretty noobish when it comes to Linux, I've played around in it, but that's pretty much it.

I am going to install a VM with a Linux distro on my machine to get more hands-on experience. I already have a few Linux books (Linux Basics for Hackers and The Linux command LIne) to study with. This may be a stupid question, but for Unix can that environment be found in a Linux distro or does it need to be installed separately?
