Meanwhile, in trying to pass a bill stripping funding of academic institutions who wish to boycott Israeli institutions, we had this gem from a loyal American politician:

“This legislation sends a very simple message, which is that we should never ask taxpayers to support religious, ethnic, or racial discrimination. We need to marginalize the politics of intolerance whenever it rears its ugly head,” Senator Klein, who represents the Bronx and Westchester, said in a statement. ”I will not allow the enemies of Israel or the Jewish people to gain an inch in New York. The First Amendment protects every organization’s right to speak, but it never requires taxpayers to foot the bill.”

You can't help but laugh at the irony.

Stay on topic, a poster had been warned of anti-semitism for months and ignored it and then was finally banned. A poster today got warned for the extermination of Muslims. He keeps that up, he gets the same treatment. Rely on posters that you don't know who have -400 rep for a reason as legitimate brehs....

You can't anti-Semitic because Semitic is a language, not a group of people.

How come posters never get banned for shytting on black women though?
We addressed this a day ago so if ANYONE brings this up in HL again after this post we're going to just have to automatically deleting the post so it's not a distraction and link him to HL rules. But this is HIGHER LEARNING. The forum with a disclaimer that says NO TROLLING or IGNORANCE. There will never be a time where we PM every poster to let them know that someone has been warned for doing something. It's bad taste, and if it's done openly in a thread it's only to make a point. If you ever feel like you notice everything we do as moderators then I'm not doing my job. But what goes on in any other forum has NOTHING to do with what @Brown_Pride or I do in Higher Learning. It is literally in the rules of HL that there is a zero tolerance policy for racism.

We have had multiple reports about racism in HL and we always address them as soon as they are brought up to us. 99% of the beef people have with us in HL is because we treat all racism in here the same more or less. It gets reported, and it's dealt with. I was even the ONE guy who stuck up for daze who no longer posts in here but was a good poster when he was bothered by usage of the term "cac." Anyone making any argument about the record in HL against racism is going to have to stand up against an overwhelming weight of contrary evidence. That is if you're claiming that we're either too lenient or not strict enough. We request for people to stop but don't go around getting people banned at random. If you want to have the Higher Learning rules against racism inserted forum-wide, you are welcome to go make that thread in TLR. And then prepare for the amount of backlash you'll get.

We fund these people. We also fund the Saudis who also practice massive racial and sectarian discrimination.

Then our government and media have the nerve to single out oppression against homosexuals in Africa and Iran.
Everyone knows this. America's principles only extend so far as it is politically expedient to do so. That's nothing new. It is been how the world has worked for millennia.

“Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.” I don't why you're so surprised at that hypocrisy.

This was going on only in HL? That's different I thought it was the board as a whole. You guys do the best job in here out of all the mods as far as actually addressing problems and providing solutions.

I'm not surprised but I think it's in the best interest (and duty) to shine light on it whenever possible, no? If enough people get upset it might be a catalyst for some change. It also tells the world that there is a significant contingent of citizens that are well aware of the role our government and institutions plays.

I think there are certain circumstances where commentary may be the catalyst for change, but this isn't one of them. I will never slight anyone who speaks out on any injustice and we can't let these things fade from memory. I live by the Gandhi quote. But a government is attributed to its people, and those that would hate Americans for what the US government does will do it anyway. They also likely come from nations that would do the same thing if they had the chance. History says so. I suppose, I just pick my battles and believe that any change that will occur in Saudia Arabia will have to emerge from the Middle East, and any change in American policy will occur when they are no longer a strategic ally. I give a nod to those who give the reminders. The best way to change American foreign policy IMO is to change domestic policy. The more money you're spending on your own people, the less you have to spend doing things around the world.

I guess no ones going to address the subject matter with any type of logical argument.
