If the CCP were an American entity or branch of the government that fell under our elected officials oversight, that would make me a hypocrite.
But we can't subpoena or regulate China like we can Zuckerberg or the CIA. The CCP has no vested interest in working with the US government. They America's hostile nation in the arenas of cyber warfare, the economy and espionage. China views us the same way are afraid to show it.

They don't and I'll never say they will.
But they can be held accountable for their actions, legally and publicly. China can't and it doesn't have any stake in the US compared to Meta or Google.
If people don't mind a hostile nation planting a potential spy app in our devices, that's cool. But the Feds have every reason to want to stop this. If Israel were to fall off the planet tomorrow, the tiktok forced sell argument would still stand

Are they actually held accountable? If you consider those dog and pony shows that they call Congressional hearings being held accountable then there’s an incredibly low standard when it comes to holding bad actors responsible.
Also, are we gonna ignore that these U.S. based companies have been linked to political violence and turmoil in other parts of the world? Are we gonna ignore the reality of American interference in the affairs of other nation states prior to the advent of the internet/modern tech? I’m sorry but to me it’s hypocritical to point any fingers knowing that the country we live in does this more than any other in the world.
Doesn’t mean China is innocent, but as Americans we’ve got some nerve to be finger wagging and scolding. We sound no different from the cacs we claim oppress us when we engage in that kinda hypocrisy. Nefarious activity is only allowed for the empire and everyone else has to bow down and accept it. That’s exactly why thousands are going through a genocide in Gaza/West Bank right now because of that same retarded American/Western exceptionalism.
