The Truth and Reconciliation Commission found that there were 21,000 deaths from political violence, with 7,000 deaths between 1948 and 1989, and 14,000 deaths and 22,000 injuries in the transition period between 1990 and 1994.
The above figures have been exceeded from October 7, 2023 to today’s date (January 4, 2024) in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

I also looked up casualty figures for when South Africa was waging war on Namibians, Angolans, and other peoples in Southern Africa (1966-1990 - the “Border War”)
Highest estimate is 15,000 black African civilians and armed combatants dead. A bit more than total casualty figures from Israel’s war since the First Intifada.
There’s been 31,227 Palestinian fatalities between 1948-2021, the highest peak was during Israel’s illegal invasion of Lebanon in 1982 with over 10,000 Palestinians killed.
