Islamic Protests in London and Sydney

According to the Islamic Justice League of HL, the Muslims in Egypt and Libya don't represent Islam and that the anger is a byproduct of socio-economic turmoil in the region.

So why have the protesters in London and Sydney have been getting violent? The Muslims there have access to free education, health care, jobs, and in case they don't have jobs, they have great social safety nets?

Then you have this, in Sydney:

Bear in my mind, I believe that these people have a fundamental right to protest. It's a form of a freedom of speech, something they themselves hate and view as "idealism" bullshyt.

This is going beyond protesting though, it is getting violent.

Question is, and I wonder if any Muslims here or "former" ones have the audicity to answer this:

Where was the worldwide protests in front of the Pakistani Embassies when that Imam ripped pages of the Qu'ran to accuse a Christian girl with down syndrome?

Where is the logic in defending their prophet and religion then?

I'm not sure I would group all these protests together. There's a lot going on in those different countries, and many webs of sympathy and alliance between diasporic and "homeland" populations, too. There are people whose protesting is inspired by political conditions, and others who are inspired by the film.

Embassy protests are a lot more common in some of these countries than you might think. There was a large protest/attack on the Algerian embassy in Egypt in 2009, all because the Egyptians lost a soccer match to them.

I don't know if there was or wasn't. As Americans, I think we have to admit there is a media bias against Muslims here. I was pretty surprised when they showed the Libyans who were rallying to apologize/distance themselves from the murderers just now. We usually don't see things like that even if they are happening. I'm sure there were many Pakistanis who disagreed strongly with that situation- it was in Islamabad, after all, which is relatively more cosmopolitan than other parts of the country.
