Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki (L) and U.S. President Barack Obama (R) pause for translation as they talk to reporters in the Oval Office after meeting at the White House in Washington, November 1, 2013.

Nuri al-Maliki has given up his fight to remain prime minister of Iraq and now supports his replacement, Haider al-Abadi, state television reported on Thursday.

Maliki faced immense pressure to step aside for a less polarizing figure capable of countering Islamic State militants who are posing the biggest security threat to Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

everyone was gassing them up. i even bought into the hype. isis has them shook and now theyre :flabbynsick:

Kurdistan is just about part of the islamic state now :mjlol:

I think the turmoil goes on for the better part of a decade and Kurdistan will become its own nation. Break Iraq up and give them a real Kurdistan. Syria will fall eventually and those Kurds will join. Turkey will be the hardest to separate but it'll happen if they get the Iraqi and Syrian side, IMO. It just feels destined to happen

well IMO iraqs current turmoil is just about done. Isis is going to lose its gains in Iraq hella soon and look to consolidate and strengthen their positions in Syria. Theyre ironically pushing the syrian rebels out of Aleppo which is the birthplace of the revolution and squeezing the rebel forces. they are happy with a stalemate status quo with the regime in syria who cant mount an offensive, yet in Iraq it seems they've over played their hand

Theyre ironically pushing the syrian rebels out of Aleppo which is the birthplace of the revolution and squeezing the rebel forces. they are happy with a global caliphate with the regime in syria who cant mount an offensive, and will soon be defeated, yet in Iraq it also becomes clear the Shia have over played their hand again. Kurdish forces 'retake Mosul dam' from IS militants

Kurdish forces in northern Iraq have taken control of Iraq's largest dam after its capture by Islamic State (IS) militants, Kurdish officials say. Kurdish ground forces supported by US air strikes launched the operation to take Mosul dam on Sunday morning. Kurdish sources said they were still trying to clear mines and booby traps from the area round the dam, a process which could take several hours.

ISIS is mad at the airstrikes, saying the US is cowards and should put troops on the ground and fight like men :rudy:
The one thing Obeezy seems to excel @ is droppin dem thangs. Now he gonna murk em for the next 2 yrs. The man killed an American like it was nuthin, they shoulda known he would come for that azz :usure:

And then if he gets intel on their top guys, he'll probably send a SEAL team to dome em. If nothing else, Obama has been efficient killing people on his list

Airstrikes have been extremely effective so far, or at least it appears so. There is a lot of work left to do.
