We're 4th in the Power Rankings. Cavs aren't even in the top 4.

The anticipation for Cleveland at Boston on ESPN on April 5 is certainly building. When the calendar flipped to 2017, Boston was six games out of first place in the Eastern Conference. Entering the final week of March, our friends at FiveThirtyEight are giving the Celtics a 66 percent chance to swipe the East's No. 1 seed away from Cleveland, thanks to a much more favorable schedule and the impact Al Horford has made since returning to the lineup. Horford is averaging 14.8 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 6.0 APG in March while shooting 58.4 percent from the field, sparking Boston to a 10-2 record this month when their marquee free-agent signing is in uniform. The Celts lost their only two March games, both on the road, that Horford was forced to miss, including a March 5 stop in Phoenix. It was quite clear Friday night, though, that Boston was bothered far more by the circumstances surrounding Devin Booker's 70-point game for the Suns -- in defeat -- than the missteps that led to Tyler Ulis' buzzer-beater in the desert to win the teams' first meeting.

That’s not much experience in the ledger. Securing the first seed is a good deal more important for Boston, then. They’ll want the easiest possible road out of the first round to set themselves up for a tough second-round foe, likely either the Wizards or Raptors.

And homecourt is especially important to the Celtics. They’re 27-9 at home this year, second-best in the East (behind Cleveland), and they have won 14 of their last 15 at TD Garden, which is becoming an increasingly difficult place for opponents.

They just don’t want to admit that they’re thinking about it. Thus we have quotes like this one, from Crowder: “It’s pretty good. We’re where we want to be at the last stretch of the regular season. But we keep focusing on one game at a time and control our own destiny.”

Celtics downplay capturing East's top seed (but it matters)

Uncertain grounds
Honestly all I ask for is a respectable playoff run. If they make it past the 1st and then lose in the 2nd in a hard fought series, I'll be content with that

Sometimes I'm in the same boat sometimes it's ecf or bust with me. Can't really make up my mind. If we lose to the raptors or wizards I wouldn't be surprised but I'd be disappointed

In the 2014-15 season, the Atlanta Hawks were the best team in the eastern conference. They played a style of team oriented basketball, and ended up winning 60 games even though they didn’t have a “superstar” on the roster. They eventually were swept by the Cavaliers, but the Hawks were one of the main stories in the league that year.

The lack of respect that the Celtics are dealing with begs the question of why?

Boston isn’t getting the respect that they deserve because everyone hating on their success is aware of what is coming. The Celtics turned their franchise around in less than two seasons, and are now a legitimate threat in the eastern conference. They have room to add a max contract this summer, and also have two first round picks from the worst team in the NBA. The Celtics are a dynasty in the making, and the rest of the league, the media, and fans of the game all know it. :larrylegendtowel:

Why do the Boston Celtics get Zero Respect?

Lack of respect is because this team with IT hasnt won anything yet not even a round in the playoffs....You dont know what that 1st pick is going to be yet and having max cap space is meaningless until you actually sign a franchise player...Its really not that hard to figure out.

And yet somehow, the Raptors were respected as a top team despite being swept in the FIRST ROUND two years in a row (2014/2015) while being a top seed and then struggled with the Pacers last year and had their two star players choke for most of the playoffs.
