All the Celtics media says that the final roster spot is down to Young and Hunter. But I'm like:jbhmm: why don't we keep both? Do we have to keep Demetrius Jackson? Everyone's been down on Young, but he's still the 2nd youngest guy on our team. This is about the age when things start to click for young players and the game slows down for them. Plus, I think Young and Hunter have better upside as far as being trade chips. Jackson seems like another dime a dozen point guard who balled in college but won't do much in the pros. I would hate to see those young guys ball out on another team. If they end up being shytty :manny: at least we gave em a shot.

I don't know why it's down to those 2 either but I do know that Hunter appears to be a one-dimensional player; can shoot from long-range at a decent clip but is pedestrian at other facets of the game. Young has raw talent but he seems like he can't put it all together. I'd keep Young over Hunter just for his talent and athleticism (along with his Kentucky pedigree) and hope that it all clicks for him sooner rather than later. But neither player is gonna be a very good/all-star NBA player.

The thing is, yeah Hunter is a one trick pony but at least he has one trick. What is Young good at? Literally the only thing Young has going for him is that he's young

I know @SchoolboyC is gonna love this news :russ:

The Celtics waived Ben Bentil on Friday, but still need to cut their roster from 16 to the NBA's maximum of 15. Knowing his team had too many guaranteed contracts, Ainge has explored the trade market for months, hoping to land something for either Young or Hunter. The goal is to avoid needing to waive one of the former first-round picks.

"That would be nice, but you never know,"
Ainge said Friday before practice. "We've been working on (possible trades)."

Boston Celtics trade rumors: Team wants second-round pick for James Young or RJ Hunter

They only signed him to get his D-League rights, nothing to see

I'm not so sure he won't make the roster though. He's a big body that can shoot, granted, he doesn't serve much utility otherwise.

And Bentil should've signed with the Claws.
