With IT missing these last two games, best case is that Rozier or Smart can show out and get their trade value up :manny:

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
They don't have to blow it up. But it must be recognized that this is the peak as long as they have this core (I.e. IT, Horford, Bradley & Crowder as the four best players). Beating Wizards-caliber teams and getting fukked by great teams.

If they want to achieve more than that then moves must be made, it's that simple :yeshrug:

I agree crowder is best served as our James posey off the bench

Disagree about the rest and I tried to warn you Isaiah was hurt badly before you threw him under the bus

I don't think this series would've gone much different healthy or not

Threw him under the bus how? I've said like 50 times this team would win 30 games without him, praised him endlessly for the times he put this team on his back and willed them to victories this year, unlike you I think he can be a starting PG for a team with legit title aspirations. That said, with Fultz coming in and with the low-ceiling of the present team there are questions as to whether maxing him out is the best move

Now that I'm thinking about it even deeper, I don't see how the Celtics are going to trade the #1 pick for an all star half way through his career only to maybe beat Cleveland. :patrice:

The ONLY trades I see the Celtics entertaining with this pick would be straight up for AD or Boogie.

That said, the Celtics will likely draft Fultz and look to move: Avery, Jae, Rozier, Smart, and the '18 Nets pick. (Taking into consideration skill but also contracts and playing time).

:whoa: Now before y'all flip, it's anticipated that the Cs are looking to sign a star wing (a la Gordon Hayward). This by default moves Bae Crowder to the bench. When we draft Fultz we'll need to immediately make room for him with a back court of IT4, Avery, Smart, Rozier, and signing Hayward leaves Crowder and Jaylen fighting for PT on the wing. It's also notable that rookie Abdel Nader (SG/SF) is expected to be on next year's roster. If you can admit to yourself that this Celtics team is about two years ahead of its own trajectory, then it becomes easier to come to terms with the fact that there are only 4 maybe 5 true core assets: Horford, IT4, Jaylen, #1 Pick (maybe the '18 pick too). People will make arguments for Smart/Rozier/Yabusele but we'll see.

What I believe Ainge will do:

1. Create a package that of Avery and Crowder (maybe even Rozier) + non-Brooklyn picks for Jimmy Butler. Not an easy deal by any stretch but if Chicago accepts, this would be the most desirable outcome because it allows the Cs to also sign a max player.

2. Crowder, '18 Brooklyn pick, our '18 pick for Butler
*Avery (and maybe Rozier) for a future 1st or an athletic rebounding big man (think Cauley-Stein for instance)

3. Trade for Paul George in a steal, considering he's done everything but commit to the Lakers. I'm talking Crowder, Rozier with the Memphis '19 pick type of deal.

Now I'm not saying the opposing teams accept ANY of these deals. I'm just saying how Danny will likely approach the offseason.

1. #1 Pick straight up for AD/Boogie or nothing.
2. Move Crowder and Bradley for Butler while retaining Brooklyn '18 pick (if possible)
3. Assuming we trade for Jimmy (or PG13): sign a Max FA to play alongside IT, Jimmy and Horford (and Fultz/Jaylen) (i.e., Millsap or Griffith)

4. When 1-3 doesn't work, aggressively seek Gordon Hayward's services.

“I mean, he wants to play through any and all circumstances,” Stevens told reporters at this morning’s shootaround ahead of Game 3. “Supposedly, when we went back out on the court on Friday night, he was all over the doctors with eight minutes left in the third in a 40-point game to come back out.”

That level of determination, will power and overall strength has been on display throughout this postseason for the 5-foot-9, two-time All-Star. Thomas has been through so much over the past five weeks, beginning with the death of his sister, continuing on with a major dental injury, and now concluding with a hip injury that has been lingering since March 16, according to the team.

Thomas’ ability to not only battle through it all, but to also play at an incredibly high level, has widened the eyes of many around the country, especially those within his own locker room.

“When I came into the Celtics I respected him as a player, as a competitor,” said first-year Celtic Al Horford, “but after seeing him go through so much adversity this year and being able to overcome it and being able to deal with that, not a lot of people are able to do that. It shows the strength of his character and how special of a guy he is.”
