Yes. It stinks and reeks:mjgrin:. But seriously, wrestling has its moments and quite frankly, if you put your whole energy into the industry, rather than just taking it for the fake sport it is, your spirit will be uplifted.

I realize that if you treat the industry like the carny mess it is, its pretty tolerable to stomach from time to time.

Can't go by ratings, everything on TV except maybe news and sports is at an all-time low.

Wrestling as we knew it pre-Broadband internet is dead though. Not only is kayfabe dead but we know about wrestlers real lives now.

Having crowds back will help a lot, but the wrestling community has become too fukkin toxic. The neckbeard smarks have ruined the fun of being a wrestling fan, and take things way too seriously. The fan wars between WWE, WCW, ECW, & TNA were always fun and good natured, but the AEW vs WWE stan war is a battle that no one is winning.

Wrestling still has a large niche audience. The question is are these people hangovers from the Attitude Era when shyt was Game of Thrones/Walking Dead level and outdoing MNF or are they actually creating new fans?

With fans being able to come back after the pandemic it's a good time for these companies to start fresh and rebuild. Prolly won't happen in the WWE though :lolbron:

We’ll get an indication once ALL the major and well known enough promotions can do shows with live audiences. Then, by extension, we’ll see how the indies do with audiences returning.

Wrestling’s not dying but there’s plenty of choices now. These companies gon need to step their game up, be it creatively or production wise

You know
My only gripe is how serious everything went. Doink vs IRS Man had its charm. Hogan going heel. DX and Rock era had their levels of ridiculousness. shyt just kinda flattened out at some point and everything feels more serious than it needs to be.
Bingo.

Attitude Era and UFC forced it into the more realistic/serious style.

Remember there were no tap outs before Ken Shamrock in WWE.

I don't think it's dying, but at the same time Wrestling has a ton of shyt to compete with. Everyone talks about the Attitude Era, which is fine, but this was in the days of Cable (1990's) where having Cable felt like a "big deal". If you had HBO, you were treated as wealthy.

This was also where Computers were not in every house, nor did we have Smartphones.

Wrestling is in a world now, where instead of having the everyday fan... you will have niche fans. Back in the old days of 70s-80's people didn't need to be a fan of Wrestling, but it was a event that people would love to watch live because there was no cable. At the time you only had your ABC, CBS, NBC and that was it and maybe a recap of Wrestling on Saturdays.

There was less options for people to be interested in other stuff. Wrestling will always live on, however, it has lost forever... the peak interest. Its no longer going to be the spectacle that it is, not because it's dying, but people are finding other avenues and hobbies.
