This is a fair comment, but question: does Orton's first reign go that way if they don't turn him face?
Anyway, they're pushing him too hard but I understand why. He checks off every box and is doing a great job of becoming an "I'd pay to see you get your ass beat" heel.

Outside of Ric Flair & Jake the Snake can honestly bring up two heels that fans naturally hated organically for thier character that weren't ultra pushed like this ?From a kayfabe standpoint, the fanbase should be angry. He previously lost a match against Lashley, and then due to favoritism bythe owner of the company, Vince McMahon, he was inserted into the MITB match and won. He gets legitimate heat too and not the 2000/1 X-Pac kind of heat either. Austin has got that 2013 Ambrose vibe where I just wanted to smack the shyt out of him every time that he pulls out that iPhone, makes a goofy face, and takes a selfie, and I've found myself getting mad at him at times myself before my saner side hits me and reminds me that's it's all fake.Just watch... he'll cash it in during an emotional moment to make the fans give him nuclear heat too.
In short, no, I don't think he is. The E just has to learn to stop cramming wrestlers down the fanbase's throat and let the slow burn take its course before taking off.

Nope. He's young, he's got heat, he makes his fans give a fukk about his opponent, and is a competent worker.
Fans are too used to the idea of "cool" likeable heels, they forget what the job of a heel is supposed to be.
...and I don't get why they thought guys like Riddle or Seth would need a briefcase.
Someone's got to win the Rumble for a shot. Someone's got to win EC for a shot.
Giving the briefcase to Theory and having him hover the idea of him being champ at some point is a great way to get more heat on a young guy that already had it, and can help him get any idling midcard babyfaces over in the process. The idea of him being forced isn't detrimental when the point is to not like him anyway...especially when they have him lean into it.
