There was no need to kill him off, historically from what I remember his fate was open ended, there was no confirmation he died in the war unlike Spartacus and Crixus...

just finished S4…the last 4 eps were a struggle to watch after ragnar’s death…glad they wrapped up aelle and ecbert’s storyline tho…I’ll read a quick wiki of what happened the last 2 seasons…one of the sons of ragnar got killed and I could give two shyts…not interested in these characters enough to watch 40 more eps

Would I have watched that? Ab-so-fukking-lutely.

But I dunno man...HBK's death was depressing but also beautiful. As much as it fukked me up, I wouldn't trade that for another season or two of him doing his thing.

Personal Opinion, Spartacus was fine, way too over the top in many instances and with too many scenes in it.

Vikings (History Channel) was about a man just trying to survive in a brutal world and raise his sons. The last seasons that focused on his sons and the path they took was equally as compelling.

The huge battle scenes throughout Vikings were amazing and they kept it up throughout the run. Great story telling. Spartacus was more about the visuals and I cared little about any of the characters.

So many bars/dope lines throughout the show, so many dope fights...aside from my comedy staples is the my go to re-watch. At least once a year.
