Is this the worst WWE roster since late 1997?

This. The talent is there, but the booking mentality is the worst it's ever been.

I think Ezekiel is cool and all. However, WWE has always said "If the Crowd is Cheering or Booing, then your Over... your Drawing."

So what does Elias do, he gets the crowd to chant, "WALK WITH ELIAS".

Then they kill him off, but then this week for his special show... the crowd still eats into that chant.

They could have made Matt Riddle a star coming off the Reigns match

I’m always confused when people say stuff like this.

Riddle is booked all over weeklys, often with the opening or main event segment (sometimes both)

He was the biggest merch mover in the company last quarter with Rkbro, and constantly pushed as one of the main attractions in the company as far as promo trucks, banners etc.

So how is he not a star? Because he lost a match?

It’s really that black and white to y’all? Win and you’re star, lose and you’re not, regardless of your reception, drawability, ability to move merch, etc. it’s just wins and loses?

Too many mediocre wrestlers been living off the idea that it's the WWE booking that's holding them back. But a lot of the AEW signings have proved this ain't the case.

The reality is a lot of these "stars" ya'll hype up just ain't that good.

They still have a lot of talent, the problem is they've had the same people on top for nearly a decade now so even people that are great have been overexposed after so long or "ruined" by awful booking.

They also don't have new "legacy" wrestlers that are protected and treated like they are special no matter their spot on the card. Instead, that treatment goes to wrestlers that are getting very old. Like, there's no one right now that is treated like Shawn Michaels or The Undertaker did in the 2000's (AJ Styles should be, for example), and the only one that would be getting it is no longer an active member of the roster (Cena).

Wtf are they doing with AJ Styles? He’s been a top 5 wrestler in the world for over 10 years yet he hasn’t won a world title since 2017

He was WWE champion in 2018. That lasted an entire year..... Ic champ in 2020, and tag team champion in 2021. You expect him to be a WWE champion every year?

Then released Bray Wyatt for absolutely no reason at all :francis:

Strowman too who was imo a much better rival to Roman than Brock is :francis:

We talking twitter now :mjlol:
social media engagement is a reflection of real life and that's the main reason why she gets showcased on TV every week and has been given legit programs and she literally gets one of the biggest reactions out of the women but sure lets play dumb.. and lets nitpick and just focus on the one name I dropped and not everybody else because it doesn't fit your dumb narrative

the roster is fine, the talent and star power and potential for even more star power is there, the booking is not and that's the only thing it comes down to, period

End the brand spl....forget it.
I understand why they don't end the brand split financially but the shows would be much better with just having the top to best midcarders on weekly and everyone else floundering should fill up NXT 2.0

Also, people don't want to admit it but firing large amounts of wrestlers in one sum really takes some of the fans out of believing in the product.

What's the point of investing into Ezekiel's new character when you could wake up and see he got randomly released in an internet breaking tweet along with 20 other guys and girls you were starting to get into

The roster is light since they have cut like 75% of the talent since the pandemic. However, there is still a lot of talent there, Vince just hasn't done shyt to build up more than like 5 wrestlers, if even that much, because he completely lacks any imagination and seemingly has zero desire to care about any secondary title.

Just look at all the ex-WWE people who went on to excel in AEW and NJPW. Two fo the most talented rosters in the world and Vince made many of these former WWE guys fukking midcard jabronis if they were even lucky enough to get that far up the card

such as? what WWE mid carder is in the main event scene in AEW?

It depends how you define "star".

Wins matter. That's why they pushed so hard that CAWdy beat Seth 3 times in a row. Clearly they were trying to push CAWdy at that level and separate him from everyone else.

The whole reason this thread exists is because of the perception that WWE's roster is weak and doesn't have star power. The guys who are seen that way are part-timers (Brock/Roman).

So 2.5 mil ppl were watching the Reigns-Riddle match, the biggest audience WWE has had in a while watching TV. I'm sure most ppl were watching because of Reigns, because he rarely wrestles on TV and because he's truly a star who NEVER LOSES. When was the last time he got pinned? I can't even remember.

Not saying Riddle should basically go undefeated after that match, but my thing is this. Even if you think everyone was tuning in because of Reigns - Riddle WAS his opponent and he IS over. So ppl who don't normally watch might tune in & see this guy is over, having a great match and go aight, this dude is legit. Let me check him out next time and see what's up.

So that person turns on RAW a couple days later and sees him basically get squashed and then get his ass kicked after the match.

It's not gonna change the fact that he's popular & ppl like him, but to me you had a chance to try and put someone on a different level from everyone else. You don't get those chances very often in wrestling now a days. I don't fukk w/ Riddle like that but I would have gone with the momentum off that match and the rating and see where it goes. But he gets beat and it's just the same ol shyt.
