Coaches and QB gurus see plays like this and think of turning them into a player they themselves never were:
Prototypical 6’6 height, mobile but still ripping off some near flat footed 60+ yarders:
That’s what the draft is largely: “If I can get this kid to see the things I do, the league is going to be in trouble.”
If they can get his fundamentals to match his physicals, then they’re going to look past the hoopla. That’s why going to a pro style offense was a big move imo.
Any young freak throwing QB at that size that can scramble and throw on the run will most likely go top 20 because all anybody can think of is Justin Herbert and Josh Allen.
Which is funny because almost all the greatest QBs in terms of stats & success are between 6'2" and 6'4" (Montana, Bradshaw, Aikman, Staubach, Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Favre, Marino, Hurts, Elway, Kelly, Eli Manning, Lamar etc).
About the only 6'5" or taller QB that's won anything is Peyton Manning. NFL GMs fall in love with the pocket passing giants, but it seems pretty clear that nearly all your best QBs fall in a pretty tight range.
