Really depends on how they’re seasoned, and who’s cooking them. They’re always going to be slimy. The ones I eat are pretty mild tasting. Add a little hot sauce on there, and it’s a bit more spicy.

do they taste like chicken, pork, beef....?

:merchant:Wait - whutTttt. Explain pls :damn::damn:

I wish I knew more of the backstory. I'll have to look into it.

I may be wrong but I think it’s so you don’t bring “dirty laundry” into the new year. You want a clean slate. I think that’s why we had to clean up the house every New Year’s Eve.

also you can’t wash laundry the DAY of New Years because it will “wash” a family member away

Same thing with my family. My maternal Grandma had a lot of New Year's traditions/superstitions she passed on to us.

Soul food on New Year's day.
A man needs to be the first person to enter your home on New Year's for good luck throughout the year.
Don't eat fowl on New Year's day or you'll be scratching yourself throughout the year.
Don't wash clothes on New Year's Day because you will wash someone out of the family.
Legit didn’t know this one year. I was getting ready to wash and my mom instantly popped up like :angry::fire::fire::fire::ufdup:

I’m like :dahell: tf?

She calmed down and just told me it was tradition, didn’t bother to ask her why.
