Just cause the media is on LeBron's balls doesn't make him more popular. The media is agenda driven. Their coverage isn't done as a reflection of what people feel or wanna hear.

I would say they are close to even in America. Kobe was definitely more popular when he was winning titles. Obviously now its LeBron's time so he has more fans. If you look at NBA players in their early 20s, Kobe is still more popular among them.
