As the degrees become more useless, they become more expensive. Finish undergrad with a bachelors degree and any job worth a damn give you the :usure::heh:

I have a masters degree right now, and a decent job but :ohlawd: at the student loans i got.

I can honestly say my masters degree was the biggest waste of time and money. I got straight A's in grad school and probably put in less effort than I did in high school. Definitely didn't learn shyt that I couldn't have learned after a month of solid reading. :stopitslime:

Now my next step is another pointless degree that will get me a pay jump which would take 12 years to make-up for the cost of the degree.

These Universities are the biggest gangsters in America right now :smh::pacspit:

History (education field). I know, not any money in education. My situation is just an example of a much larger problem in this country...which is what I hoped to get opinions on.

If you already know, then :manny:

As for the much larger problem, it's not an American thing. It's a global thing. The difference is that other countries can "control" costs much better for a few reasons.

1. Requirements for what we consider a traditional 4 year college are VERY strict abroad. You generally have to take a state examination to get in at all. And depending on what subjects you excel at, your majors are limited. You can only major in what you are good at -- your track is locked in. If you can't get in you go to a vocational school or some two year training program...which is also sponsored by the government.

2. Most colleges abroad are state sponsored and cost of tuition is more controlled. Rising levels of education and demand for education has still translated to growing costs over the years, though.

In America, it's different. There are no federal universities -- you have state colleges, which vary based on the wealth and government of each state, and you have private colleges, which charge you out the ass. The state doesn't sponsor vocational programs.

you're NOT "n!ggas"

I personally dont believe in the higher education system, save a few professions, like healthcare, engineering and maybe criminal justice.
I do however believe alot of employers want to hire people with degrees, even if its not related to the job. But the cost of schooling is outrageous and it climbs every year, and I believe one of the big reasons is the fact that so many people go to school on borrowed money. These loans are usually insured by the govt, and the schools know that. The loans are for life and will follow you until they are paid, no bankruptcy, no defaulting. You gon pay or you gonna do die, so they figure, fukk it we can charge more. They know that moneys coming back.

I also think "go to college" is a cliche spit by an adult who has no real advice to give you to help enlighten you for the future. Its a phrase made up of hollow words that people just throw at you when they have no idea what to say.

I bypassed school and im a union worker so I make a nice wage. Since im young I still get people coming up to me like, young man im telling you, go back to school. You dont wanna end up like me.

:rudy: Im like ya makings good money with tons of overtime opportunities, good benes, good vactions/holidays + bonuses, good working enviroment and all that other shyt, damn this sounds awful, get me out of here and back in school with debt.
