Is the thrill of comic book movies over?

Both Aquaman and Captain Marvel sequels flopped after the success of the first ones. Flash flopped even with Keaton back, and let’s not mention how other DC property did. Marvel hasn’t had the success it’s had in theaters for years.

Feels like no one cares much about these movies post-Endgame. Seems like only well known, very popular characters like Batman will succeed.

Also, it seems these studios are just throwing shyt at the wall and thinking some characters will just hit with the audience. Plus average scripts aren’t helping out either.

It’s the IPs in general, those things coming out of the marvel and DC camp have had a strangle hold on super hero story telling but I feel the audience’s interest has waned because it’s always the same two universes and nothing new.

If no one cared about other DC characters, WW, Aquaman, and Shazam wouldn’t have gotten sequels.

Im sure the X-Men will help bring back the MCU, but that isn’t happening until at least the late 2020s.

And convo is happening because CBM haven’t had much success since Endgame, that was years ago.

Those DC films dont do big numbers consistently. And lets be honest, DC aint seeing Marvel at all in terms of numbers. DC started pushing out all these comic movies to ride the wave that Marvel started which is why their sequels flopped because their OG counter parts werent good enough. So yea, they did good to get sequels but they aint breaking box office numbers. No one was lining up to see aquaman 2 or wonder woman 2
