As you saw in the playoffs, CJ is mobile, he’s just not a running QB, and we didn’t need him to be one. He’s much more effective moving around the pocket and taking shots down field. Dwayne was less mobile than CJ and that was never a problem. Justin just happens to be one of the more athletically gifted QBs we’ll see as evident by his NFL QB rushing records already. We have too many elite receivers making plays down field to want our QBs to run a lot. That’s the old Urb offense that bogged down in the 2016 playoff run.
NAH
We can be fans of the squad and still tell the truth.
There were far too many times in games where the Offense wasn't humming to it's ability and CJ would have 10 plus yards of green in front of him and far too many times he didn't take it.
Compare that to the first half against Michigan when JJ said fukk it and ran the ball into the end zone cause that was the ONLY(or at least BEST) option on said play.
TCU doesn't beat Michigan if Max doesn't scramble and create on otherwise dead plays.
With the way modern spread offense is played at the college level , Aint no excuse for not having a mobile QB
CJ is my guy and i'm not trying derail the thread but I and many other scouts, analyst, and evaluators know what we saw.
He has my vote as the best PURE/pocket passer in the country tho.
