only thing I disagreed with Stoute about was his analysis of the Kanye/Fashion thing

He equated it to him being from the Chi trying to get put on in NY market of rap.

Well thing is, Kanye played his position and worked his way up. Nygga ghost produced for DDot and everything. with the fashion thing, he just screaming at the top of his lungs, IM KANYE. Y'all have to let me in the fashion world. big difference

I disagreed with him disregarding any criticism towards kanye because he made great-hit music. that thinking would make anything post massacre above criticism and clearly there's plenty of room for that. and kanye did release an album that hasn't been beloved by his core and casual fans as much as his past work. Michael Jackson fell off... NO ONE is above criticism.

I'm not sure why people are bothered by him. All he seems to do is provide avenues for people to monetize their fame. He's not hanging anyone off the roof, you can always turn the opportunities down.

the irony of stoute talkin shyt about a rapper's business acumen thats worth over 4 times more than him:russ::russ::russ:

50's business acumen doesn't touch Steve Stoute's. I don't want to pick apart 50's business moves like everything he has done is easy but it's not like he's been making stellar moves since the Vitamin Water deal.

whats crazy is if u listen to the interview he doesn't even hide thats he's about his money, just like all of his interviews....

He's the cat that pulls rappers to the side like "look I see u doing ya thing, but I got something for u over here that'll get both of us a few M's" which is something Dame Dash didn't like about him... Being Dame Dash is just like Stoute in a way I see how they always collided in the past.
Dame probably hates him more after Jay dumped him to partner up with Stoute, cold :whew:

this isn't about 'blacks" making money.

Stoute makes money by taking black artists and pimping their image to OTHER blacks.

Do you not see the nuance here?

How is encouraging the black community to buy GUnit Sneakers and buy Hennessy helping the black community?

:what: this is a capitalistic society. are you really mad because black folks are profiting off of their own culture :snoop:

It's helping bring money to Black folks. And there's no harm in either one.

Stout doesn't do anything but sell black culture to white people...that is it...that is all he has ever done...that is all he will ever do...

A white company (reebok) needs a black rapper to sell some shoes...but they don't have any idea which black rapper could help them to sell the most...because shyt they are old white people da fukk they know about hip hop...so they go get steve stoute...stoute does some "marketing research" and let's them know Jay-Z is the guy...

Dude makes money but...at what point does he get tired of selling black culture...

Stoute should have enough money by now for everything to not be "about the money"

I'm not mad at the motive, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

And you're lying by saying this is "black money"...

These are a select few SUPERSTARS that he's "marketing"...dude's business practically sells itself.

You see my point precisely.

Dude gets all these accolades for basically catering to the bottom and scraping up funds for a SELECT few black entertainers and then calls it a win.

You telling me 50 Cent REALLY needed Stoute to move product? I mean damn thanks for the deal, but he's an entertainer for goodness sakes...its not gonna take much for that deal to go through.

Stoute is just like these record label execs trying to be celebs. He makes money off of the fame of other people and proclaims it as a win.

I think the best thing he ever did was starting his own ad agency...but I don't think that totally removes his persona as selling shyt to the black community.

I find it hard to respect that...

Let me know when he starts EMPLOYING blacks or creating vehicles of entrepreneurship for minorities...and I know this is much more difficult to do.

Entertainers still represent the vast majority of black wealth. I'm not impressed. No matter how much he wraps it up in "influencing the world" and shyt. Its just business-speak and coded language to try and reshape the dialogue.

And yeah I agree that Candy Shop was a terrible record. I think Disco Inferno was weak too. Do the people who bought those records then still enjoy them now? The singles from the 1st album are still fire but the 2nd I don't know.

A Hack? Should have spent some time doing research rather than making this thread.

Stoute gets black entertainers to invest in black consumerism for products that don't benefit them.

And you don't see where this is fukked up?

Most of Stoute's achievements have been in marketing "black culture" back to black people as a means of selling shyt.

I mean damn...its not illegal, but why should I respect it inherently?

I respect the fact he's got an actual marketing firm NOW that branches out but him championing the G Unit sneaker is something i'll never understand.

I never understood why fans were so happy about rappers selling them shyt beyond music. I get that artists like it, obviously...but fans just can't WAIT to be marketed to...Its weird to me.
