Wow, this whole QT drama really got people hating on Spike. Spike is one of the most important film makers of the last 20 years. What I love about Spike's movies are they are really grounded more in reality than fantasy. His film feel like real stories cause he writes his characters based off life experience. Just like any director with a long catalog, of course he's going to have some weak joints but his strongest work is still strong.

Lee's been known to say a lot of unfounded things. Also, your last sentence says nothing. All strong work is strong? Damn, put that in a book!

Also Spike is very versatile doing not just movies but documentaries, commercials, etc. I think cause of how outspoken Spike is people love to hate. To me Spike always keeps it real about racial inequality in cinema. This is why "Bamboozled" was so brilliant. He was telling Black America we need more control over our image cause look how it's been portrayed.

I never said he wasn't versatile. I prefer his documentaries, but I don't love to hate him. Why would I? It seems the other way around to me, he loves hate, and if you want to talk about image, then why is Lee so negative?

The man is not overrated, he's underrated by Hollywood cause he's a Black Man making quality movies.

Well you say he has SOME weak joints. Anyone else will tell you most of the joints are weak. I've never denied someone I didn't care for their strong points, but you're making him out to be some philosopher when he's too blinded by his self-persecution to say much of anything.

They've robbed him at the Oscars a few times. It's OK, Spike's catalog will stand the test of time and he will be ranked with the Greatest Directors when it's all said and done for his impact on showing black culture in Cinema. Also Spike was one of the Director's to be credited with the new wave of independent features so he was making movies outside of the Hollywood system. The man is a talented writer and film maker and sadly he doesn't get the true credit cause he's very outspoken:

Everyone's been robbed at the Oscars, especially people you've never heard of, who have been making movies outside the Hollywood System long before Lee first uttered "racist!" It doesn't bother me whatsoever you can see more in him, for yourself, but he's not going to be paralleled with the greats. He's been around long enough where we would have seen that happen.

you trashed a lot of dope movies but at least youre not just talking out of your ass...

Well I actually like Inside Man, it's just not a great movie. It's a solid movie by my tastes, just not spectacular....an average thriller. 25th Hour is much of the same, but I think the actors carried a weak script...it was a weak script. i'll watch both when they're on...Inside Man more than 25th.

I think his flaw in most of his movies is the surrealism he manages to put in there...that's what takes me out of them. If you want to go surreal, start it off that way

He's good with me forever, for '25th Hour', that movie chokes me the fukk up overtime, when I was 15, to an adult, it just got more poignant, powerful, insightful, unsettling, scary. The scenes with his Dad at the end....It's one of my top 5 favorites, but I can't watch it, hardly ever. Hard to see where someone wouldn't recognize the greatness of '25th Hour'.

Just watching He Got Game for the first time (not a basketball fan). This joint is hot. I fuxwit Spike. Always have. I just feel at home in his movieverse. I am biased cause I was 15 in 1990. To us Spike was the man. I admit some of his movies have been somewhat dull but he definitely makes quality movies. I'm definitely a Stan.

Looking at his filmography: this nikka got a movie out in damn near every year since 86, he skipped like 4.

His talent is not overrated, but he's very inconsistent. Someone with his abilities should have made a Goodfellas-caliber film already, and he hasn't.

Am, I the only person who loved Summer Of Sam. :lawd:

John Leguizamo is another underrated one.

I think all Spike's first wave of films are all classic. But, honestly everything that came after She Hates Me, I have yet to see. :yeshrug:

I didnt like summer of sam. Its well directed but bad script.

He made those italianos look dumb as fukk lol ..i see what spike did there..

Spike is a lot like your common rapper. So long as I avoid his interviews and opinions, I can appreciate his work. He def had a spark when he started, but I havent been too impressed with his work in the last 10 or so years. Seems like he makes headlines for calling out other directors, and not for his work
