Also Eugene Levy and Catherine o Hara are legends in the game and their peers wanted to give them the recognition that they deserve. I do think the show is fine in an "AW isn't that sweet" kinda way.
Best in show was great

Decided to jump in yesterday and I ended up binging season one and part of season 2 yesterday. I would classify it as a toned down version of Arrested Development. Rich family falls from grace and is out of touch with the real world.

There are less laughs than Arrested Development, but it is shot in a way makes you care more about the characters than AD. In AD, Michael (and occasionally George Michael) are the only relatable characters.

To me, the jokes aren't as in your face, but there is wit throughout the show and I have had those 'burst out loud and rewatch the scene' moments about 4-5x in the first season and a quarter. The dialogue/edits are faster than Arrested Development so there are less reaction shots. It reminds me of Gilmore Girls in that aspect

theres basically a dozen or so cliques in Hollywood....you got your Parks & Rec crew (how a garbage show like that has so much influence is beyond me), they got Regis's son in law producing similar shows w/ nondescript characters, those stiff comedians from ucb that everyone hates.....then you got the Judd Apatow/Lena Dunham crew....basically the same sh1t.....one of the chicks was the head of Vice & her mom wrote for Murphy Brown.....so these are like the Whitest People on Earth...nevermind creativity & having original voices.....its all about nepotism & these rich mothafukers having a circle jerk.....

everyone needs to get out of the hollywood/tv matrix...i love watching the entertainment industry crumble, just being around these people is sickening....they're shockingly stupid behind the scenes & have no character/backbone.....feed your mind w/ real content......my old neighborhood has champion boxers, cuban immigrants, russian mafia, etc......more interesting characters than the stuff made up by hipsters in los feliz & silverlake......i don't need to be fed storylines written by hacks like Neal Brennan & Morgan Murphy....they can't even do poor/working class right.....they got a show called "Broke" about a family struggling financially & its so unappealing, filled w/ all kinds of agendas....if you wanna work in tv you're gonna have to kiss ass w/ some of these crews & they are far removed from regular people.

The wife and the gay sons husband are the least funny. The wife is horrible. But overall I actually enjoyed the show. I’m on the last season now. Season 6.

I'm on the last season too.

Personally I think the wife and the daughter are terrible, but that is because they have the least empathy out of the family. Every interaction they have, they are ignoring Ted or the Dad's feelings and making everything about themselves. The dad cares about everyone, while the son can be a dikk (pause) but he does try to be there for people for the most part, even strangers that visit the store(s) he has worked at.
