Dude went from middleweight all the way up to heavyweight for all intents and purposes undefeated. He was dominant with crazy flair and entertaining.

If he decides to hang em up after that Ruiz fight, I think we're debating him and Floyd as the modern day GOATs and Roy's flashy style might have him pull ahead.

I don't know about undisputed GOAT.
Boxing has way too many great fighters in its history.

I know that I'll get quoted by a bunch of people who will disagree but peak Roy Jones Jr was the most dominant and exciting fighter of the last 30 years. Yes, even more than Floyd. Sure Floyd has the 50-0 and all that. I get it. I just think peak Roy was the shyt.

GOAT? Nah. Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali would still be cream of the crop. But I guess it would have been an interesting talking point if he did retire after Ruiz, especially on social media

Even if he retired after Ruiz he'll at best be #3 behind those two

Floyd only gets mention. From Roy damaging his body physiology being weight depleted.

If not for Roy going back to Chase Robinson.
Floyd would have had no real drawing aire to be money Mayweather Floyd.

Do I think Floyd inside coup of Dela Hoya.
would have resulted in the same style of payday.

Yes.
Yet in that I think people would mention how Dela Hoya was internally sabotaged. Having the mayweather's alter dela's fighting style into a brawler. When Dela Hoya never needed to leave his father as trainer.

I feel we should have gotten Roy v tyson and Roy v Byrd.

If Roy won those and retired.

I feel Roy would have never had to drop weight to do the impossible.

Which was being weight depleted defending the previous weight class titles. Concurrently as the hw champion.

Plus would be the unquestioned p4p goat.

He was something else in the 80s, 90s and early 00s. Then after that his brain damage turned him into another steven seagal aka the American clown for russian oligarchs (except seagal has never had any talent or skill). I think that shyt is even sadder than MAGA :mjlol: because this dumbass supports both trump and putin.

As a boxer, there's no denying in what he did in his prime. Should have retired in perfect time, but plenty of fighters have kept appearing in matches at the old age. Anderson Silva was one of the GOAT mma fighters but he kept fighting at the old age racking up L after L. Some people struggle to retire.

There can’t be an undisputed GOAT in boxing. It’s history is to deep. I loved Roy but even if he retired after beating Ruiz he’d still be behind Sam Langford, Henry Armstrong, SRR, and Ezzard Charles off top. His resume doesn’t come close to theirs. I would’ve mentioned Harry Greb but there’s no footage of him so it’s a weird situation with him.

Only difference is that most of his fights were not on PPV. Something Floyd thrived from.

Also Floyd's ascension was just as much about marketing as the actual fight content.

I def agree with this, but I feel like if Roy had retired on top, his body of work and the way he fought would have had people automatically putting him at the top of their lists for modern era. As it is now, people mention his peak but don't really put him up there with Mayweather, which is crazy cause dude was basically 50-0 after Ruiz and had insane highlight reels
