Is it over? No.

Did it peak already? Absolutely.

Between the dumb shyt he said on UOENO, the fraud exposure, the GD incident, the guy was on the news for all the wrong reasons right around GFID dropped and after. I think it messed him up, he hasn't been the same since. He can still drop a verse though so his career ain't dead or anything, but he hasn't evolved or improved so I don't see any more success for him than he already has. Just cruise control from here on out

He def had a good run.........nobody thought he would be around 7 -8 years after hustlin dropped

Port of miami was cool but who thought he would be around for 7-8 years and have his own successful label?

Not to mentioned dude beefed with two of the most street artists out of the 2000's ( jeezy and 50) didnt back down and still doing his thing.

When I think of runs I think of cats who at one point you was on that elite level, where it could be argued you was king of all of rap music, from quality to big time numbers:banderas:...There is no point where I think you could say Ross was king of all of rap.

From that peak to where the argument can no longer be made for you in the elite level:mjcry:=a run

imo,i would never describe a Jadakiss,E-40,Fabolous as having a run, maybe people have different definitions though....Eminem probably the most successful artist of all time,do i consider him having a run from 2000 until 2015? Scarface always drops quality material:banderas:,did he have a run from 1990 to 2008?nah man,you gottta do it all:blessed:.....nothing wrong with not having a run,but cant be handing em out like candy, its a special elite group that had em,some short as shyt and some lengthy.

I think the problem is Hood Billionaire tarnished his brand, which with a guy like Ross is really important.

Ross undoubtedly wanted HB to be an official release so he could get paid from it. It has sold about 120,000 copies in the US meaning he probably made in excess of $500K off it.

I really liked GFID and Mastermind, if those had been his most recent albums I don't think people would be saying he was done.

I think Tefllon Don is his most complete album, but DTR had the best 8-9 songs on it. If DTR was rearranged and had some of his mixtape songs thrown on there to fill it out it would've been a 10/10 classic.

Rick Ross definitely had a run. That run was from 2010 to 2012. Starting with the Albert Anastacia mixtape up until him dropping GFID, Rick Ross was everywhere. That AA mixtape was the beginning with "BMF" and "MC Hammer". The momentum continued with him dropping Teflon Don. There was a point where everybody had a Ross verse on somebody's song. At the end of 2010 toward the beginning of 2011, he dropped the Ashes To Ashes mixtape which had "9 Piece", which was another street banger. There was the first Self Made which had "That Way" (rejuvenated Wale's career) and "I'm A Boss" (gave Meek Mill a hit). There was also his feature on "I'm On One". The in 2012, he came with Rich Forever which was his biggest tape. That had "Stay Schemin" which was huge.

Lil' Wayne actually re-made a Ross song ("I'm A Star") for "John" and made it a single. Diddy and Drake were going to record albums with him. Kanye featured him twice on MBDTF.

ross aint a dumb dude though, even if his run as a 'big top 40 rapper' is coming to an end, he will likely continue down the exec route, pulling in new talent and probably getting into other areas of business like 50 and others continue to do. people make transitions in their careers, if they are smart.

we will continue to see dude around, its not like hes going to be selling verses on myspace and angling for a spot on Love and Hip Hip anytime soon.

Meek Mill made Rick Ross hot in the rap game.
