This is really my last thread for the weekend because I gotta work and study for my certification exam :yeshrug:

Anyway, in this day and age is it really worth it to seriously pursue Rap as a career? I have 10 songs written down for my first mixtape and now I'm even :ld: Just as a hobby though and making side money (trying to break into IT). My shyt is more Rock/Alternative than anything. Not a good rapper (my style is David Bowie/Kurt Cobain mixed into one) It's just the shyt I know about the industry. Also, most cats I know are still broke doing this shyt. Now, I'm currently in school and not trying to have a Rap career. Just doing it as a hobby. However, at a certain age dudes should stop chasing the dream. I have a cousin who's kinda in the industry, but he has a real job (will not disclose).

Most of these record labels take advantage of you and it's grimmy. That's why it's best to be Independent. Also, if I was in the industry it would be as an executive (you aren't expendable).

Only a small amount make it on that huge level. Most rappers can be replaced.

At what age should brehs stop chasing the dream and get involved with a real career? Also, you are more of a target when you do make it and have to always been on alert.

I'm focused on other things now, but when I get time I might hit up the studio. We have quite a few in this area.

Age 23, if you haven't made it in today market. It's a wrap. Today market filled with label created product (rappers, singers, all musicians, entertainment etc)

Just look at all the big upcoming rappers and their current age usually 18-20, some slip in here and there but they look very young for their age.

You have to do what cole said, if you are a current rapper and finally getting recognition you need to tour a lot your career can be dead in the next 6 months

Today market you'll be lucky to have a 3 year career, name all the rappers that came out in 2015 still here :francis:

You really want to make money in rap today. Learn or become a head of how to sell products or advertise products within lyrics. You'll have to be able to show proven results from said advertising. Probably one of the biggest scams in hip hop is the unpaid advertisements to numerous amount of brands. Create cheaper lanes for newer artist to tour etc, think outside of becoming a corporate slave

Don’t drop out nikka. There ain’t no 60 year old rappers. Get that degree, get them certs or start that business.
As soon as I pass this Pharm Tech cert it'll be my third cert. Then, Imma do an IT and Personal Training cert. Now, when I get in my 30's I'm getting my degree in my passion (Nursing).
