back then EVERYONE used to smoke. i mean the shyt was casual. you saw it in movies, on tv... it was everywhere. it was apart of the average lifestyle. it was MARKETED as apart of the average lifestyle.

sadly it led to the deteriorated health of an entire generation. everyone here knows someone who became very sick (or died) because of years and years of smoking. and the common response, as always, is usually "hey back then everyone smoked" or "well none of us knew any better".

do you think the same thing is bound to happen to this generation? think about all the processed food we consume. all the salts, sugars, preservatives, chemicals, etc. i mean the long term health effects can be deadly.

are we doomed to repeat history? are we gonna be an entire generation of people who willingly poisoned ourselves because "we didn't know any better"?

your thoughts?

The real problem is that we really do know better, but people don't want to change themselves or their children. They even have the same habit-forming cravings where our brain tricks us into wanting these kinds of food.

it's tough man. yea there's more education out there now but it's hard to avoid it. these sugars and these preservatives are in EVERYTHING now... and i think a lot of people are just ignorant to it.

when it comes to the fast food, or the frozen foods, or the sugary drinks... i think a lot of people's attitude is just "well how bad can it be". and honestly i understand where they're comin from cause these foods are soooo readily available. it's hard to believe that the iced tea drink on the shelf can be hazardous to your health.

and sadly the standards for these companies are never gonna be raised. look at smoking. it's not like we ever succeeded in getting the tobacco companies to stop selling cigarettes. the best we could do is just educate the public and hope that we as a collective move on from them. the same is gonna have to happen with this garbage food.

But really, the most absurd aspect of this is that we're force feeding it to children as SCHOOL LUNCHES. School districts sign deals with companies like Arby's, Pizza Hut, etc to provide lunches....but they're providing unhealthy, highly processed garbage. And kids wash it down with a nice 20oz Coke :snoop:

As someone who cares about what they eat and pays attention, it's kind of infuriating.

And the FDA is a joke.

Man this just a microcasm of things that are wrong with this country, there's far.too much corporate greed. It's profits over people, and too many citizens are blind and at the sleep of the wheel...

Most of us know the best things to eat it's just tough for many to do it. Rather than preparing food etc, it's easy for people to drive through McDonalds for their fix.

Coke and many fizzy drinks are also a killer! Kids love that shyt too, but parents need to start their kids on the healthy side early otherwise eating shyt will become normal.

Eating bad never really crosses my mind just because mentally and physically I feel SO much better with natural/organic/normal food. Sitting down and eating a salad is a lot more refreshing than eating some McDonalds, on top of that you experience great benefits through the micronutrients you're consuming.

I agree with a lot of the stuff in here though. Either people think its all fake BS propaganda or they just dont think it will hurt them. The problem is that these foods wont make you sick right away in fact you might like just as long as a person eating all organics. So thats a go to argument, but what people fail to realize is quality of life. A lot of older people today have to make weekly trips to the doctor for different types of medicine and its not by accident.
People also try eating healthy for a couple of weeks and say they didnt feel any different. When you eat unhealthy for that long it might take months before you start to notice how great your body feels with proper nutrition. I dont think many people will give it that long:yeshrug:
