Netflix literally has none of the most popular shows or movies anymore and people think they be fine? :mjlol:

Everyone i know is watching shyt like Game of Thrones (HBO) Comicbook movies (DISNEY) sports(ESPN)

Netflix won't die but, at this point being subscribed to them is like being subscribed to the CBS streaming service. I watch Star Trek and thats it. Complete waste of money. Netflix is the same, last originals i watched was Will Smith's Bright and Luke Cage. Everything else is on Hulu or will be on Disney plus. You think Netflix is going to survive by showing Friends and Sienfield reruns?

Netflix has a ton of original programming that gets positive media and fan attention: Netflix Originals | Netflix Official Site

Not sure where this idea that there is nothing on Netflix came from.
combination of not having a big flagship show like it once had + the amount of mediocre to bad OG content to good-outstanding OG content ratio (for every gem, there are 5-6 titles that simply take up space) + the drop all episodes at one time model which limits the length of time shows stay in the social media/pop culture chatter zeitgeist

But honestly, no network has a blockbuster show anymore - TWD and GOT were the last ones, GOT is done, Westworld has not been successful in taking its place and TWD lost a lot of viewers over the past 3 seasons that they won't get back, no matter how much better people say the last season was. GOT very likely wrapped up that era

Isn't Stranger Things it's flagship original TV show at the moment?

Yup, people just eat this stuff up. shyt I just googled the show and first thing that pops up:

Coca-Cola Will Revive New Coke in Alliance With Netflix, ‘Stranger Things’

What other show on Netflix is doing anything like that? :smugdraper:

it is and isn't...it's their biggest presently, but it still doesn't feel as big as HOC and OINTB were - likely to those being the first successful forays into OG content....either way, it suffers from my third point of how the full season drop makes things forgettable. there's like a 2 week window in which to watch netflix stuff and participate in the pandemonium, then it's over.

Article is wack. Netflix is synonymous with video streaming the way WWE is synonymous with wrestling, even if they take a big hit with Disney + launching they’ve been working to obtain more licensing and create more original content. Bird Box, say what you will about it quality wise, was a phenomenon for a minute there, and that’s just one example.

They’ll be alright.

What premium content does disney have outside its franchise movies? Disney will be a must have for people with kids (even tho most kids are fukking with random content on youtube :dead: ) otherwise, yall are overstating how many people really care about marvel/star wars where having all of it for endless re-watches is a must-have.

All of these services breaking apart will either lead to unprofitable ventures where people have to consolidate or a rebound in cable subscriptions :heh:

netflix has a lot of niche content, i felt the same, but just in this forum you can see a million threads posts about random shows people have discovered on netflix that they're into. plus all the stand up comedies, documentaries and foreign stuff, netflix has more than enough to keep people engaged.

it does need a couple of breakout shows tho, House of Cards and OITNB were the two originals that put Netflix on the map for original content, since they've ended or will be ending (and fell off in popularity) flix has only had Narcos and Stranger Things that have seemed to connect across a wide swath of watchers.

But honestly, no network has a blockbuster show anymore - TWD and GOT were the last ones, GOT is done, Westworld has not been successful in taking its place and TWD lost a lot of viewers over the past 3 seasons that they won't get back, no matter how much better people say the last season was. Making a Murderer and 13 Reasons Why seemed like that was pretty huge for a long while.

Netflix's problem is that their model prevents getting a large audience to all tune in at the same time or even same day so stuff is never going to reach the pop culture pinnacle as something like GOT even though some of their shows are watched extremely heavily.

So does crackle. and they're free.

They need premium content to compete with HBO and Disney. Netflix doesn't have an GOT, Sopranos, Wire etc
Crackle doesn’t even belong in the same sentence with Netflix, I’m not even sure what shows you are talking about on crackle.
Does Crackle have original movies from Martin Scorsese and other Oscar winning directors or TV shows with A-list stars just randomly releasing on weekends?
