Is Michael Jackson the most conscious/pro-black MAINSTREAM artist we've ever had?

Yeah, it's arguable and not as crazy as it might seem.

Michael had Farrakhan, dikk Gregory, and Sebi in his circle. He also had Johnnie on the payroll before he was a household name. There's a lot there. Michael had a foot in the conscious and square black movements.

PE was huge but let's not overstate their status just because OP understated their fame, after their commercial height 89-92, they took a massive nosedive. By 94, PE had fallen off as the scene was changing.

By 94, a lot of "street nikkas" were conditioned to NWA paradigm, and even the east coast was caught up in their own version of gangsta rap. PE was considered "lame" cause a lot of those street dudes were selfish, materialistic c00ns.

:rudy: as arguably the biggest MJ fan on here, this is crazy talk.

Chuck D holds that crown, nobody even comes a close second

No one wants to give Chuck D his props. Cause it Will expose c00ns from all levels.....the corporate c00ns, the street c00ns, the music c00ns.....Public Enemy was the ultimate test to see if you actually love black people or not.....

Not famous enough. I should have made this more specific. I was thinking more about major mainstream cross-over artists. Rihanna, Beyonce, Jay-Z, etc. I'm not talking about artists that just black people or a few select white people know. I'm talking about artists that EVERYONE knows. Black, White, Other. Young, Old.

Marvin Gaye
James Brown
Stevie Wonder
Beyonce etc etc the list goes on
