wayne '05, '06, '07 was killing it. personally i thought his run ended with C3 in '08. That shyt is not classic. It's overrated. his whole run was built up to reach that next studio album and it was a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 tops.
he influenced a whole generation though and whether you respected his time on the throne or not, you can't deny it.

Part of being overrated is that you receive undeserved universal praise. Wayne always had a balance of praise and criticism. Em would be an example of somebody that had near universal praise for a while.

theres no such thing as universal praise.

Eminem never came remotely close to such praise.

@Wacky D jeezy was not bigger than tip. Tip went gold in his first week and had a number 1 movie out. Tip was the biggest rapper in 06 easily

I thought the underlining theme for the coli this week was to stop basing everything off of sales & numbers.

altho, I do agree that tip was the '06 mvp. but not just because of that.

but jeezy was the man in that overall era.

every generation is not created equally.

and lets not get carried away with this "whole generation" talk.

As much as I like him, Big L is comically overrated on the internet.

That's true, I like him as well, but nobody can't deny that it's laughable how some people put him in top 5 when he's only just as good as any other member of DITC. I wouldn't even put him in top 15.

He had a good 2 album run then people started calling him the best rapper alive.

Pre carter 2 no one gave a fukk bout lil wayne. He rode that hot boyz wave to sell albums.

He took advantage of a weak era in rap there really wasnt much competition lyrically. Hov became a business man eminem was on sabbatical & nas was no longer hot like he use to be.

I dont wanna hear that album sales bullshyt everyone knows bird and slim was buying albums to boost the numbers.

He was a C+ rapper in a F grade era
realest post you ever wrote...

and that's only because that was his tag-line, which didn't even make sense.

"best rapper alive.....since the best rapper retired" :mjlol:
