....yet everyone at that time knew Jordan was retiring...it was well known to everyone...so the social media end of it doesn't make a difference imo.Breh 1994 = No twitter, no Facebook, no Smartphones, no social media of any kind. Can you imagine if that was around when Jordan retired? The country would have shut down.
And let's not forget Jordan was a household name back then, probably the biggest entertainment icon on the planet next to Michael Jackson.
In some strange way, I think the Jordan hype is what evolved this new era of hype with guys like Lebron. Just like their salary contracts....there is overhype and overanticipation on everything...the league was desperately looking for a Jordan replacement after he retired...and Lebron was that protege....
