Breh 1994 = No twitter, no Facebook, no Smartphones, no social media of any kind. Can you imagine if that was around when Jordan retired? The country would have shut down.
....yet everyone at that time knew Jordan was retiring...it was well known to everyone...so the social media end of it doesn't make a difference imo.

And let's not forget Jordan was a household name back then, probably the biggest entertainment icon on the planet next to Michael Jackson.

In some strange way, I think the Jordan hype is what evolved this new era of hype with guys like Lebron. Just like their salary contracts....there is overhype and overanticipation on everything...the league was desperately looking for a Jordan replacement after he retired...and Lebron was that protege....

I'm not sure why people keep mentioning Michael Jordan.

Jerry Krause stayed ignoring Michael Jordan's pleas to draft certain players (usually UNC guys) like Joe Wolf and shyt. And Mike wanted the Bulls to bring back Phil and Pippen and 'em after they won the sixth title and they decided the move was Tim Floyd. :snoop:

Imagine a GM saying after LeBron's team won the title... "Players don't win championships, organizations do."

LeBron literally has the Cavs in a stranglehold.

But it does need to be said that BECAUSE of Michael Jordan and superstar players before him, LeBron is able to do the shyt he's doing now.

We could have had phil/jordan/pippen vs pop/robinson/duncan in 99:snoop:

Also the bulls would have had some rest since there was a lockout:snoop:

didn't he get a coach fired?

Yep; tried to trade Worthy for Mark Aguire and Roy Tarpley, but it got vetoed at the very last second by Jerry West. There's quite a bit of other stuff he did too.

@Regular_P you got an issue with this thread title?

I have an issue with Magic not being mentioned very much in this thread, so I think it's been a poor discussion, thus the one star.

I'm supposed to mention Magic when LeBron has 4x the amount of power he had? They built practice facilities for LeBron dude. Change that 1 star to a 5.

Read up on Magic, breh. I don't recall the Heat bending over backwards for LeBron either. The one star stays. :umad:

@Blackthoughts

"You know when I learned about Magic's power, and that he was the man much more than Kareem?" said Brickowski, new to the organization. "I signed with the team and arrived in Chicago for a practice before a pre-season game against the Bulls. Everyone welcomes me, Pat introduces me, he brings us in for a huddle, everyone puts their hands in and Pat says, 'We'll do this and we'll do that, and we'll be out in two hour and fifteen minutes.' And Magic goes, 'OK, an hour and fifteen and we'll be done.' And Pat says, 'No...no...two hours and fifteen minutes.' And Magic says, No, no, no--I thought you said, because we played back-to-back games and we're tired, it'll just be an hour and fifteen minutes.' Well, there are three seconds of silence and Pat says, 'We're sharp--one hour and fifteen minutes.' Magic walks away, smiles at me and says, 'That's what I thought you said.'"

LeBron would never dare pull some shyt like that on Pat Riley. :mjpls:
