Economics professor David Berri says that Kobe was only good for 2.85 wins this past season, and his star power doesn't attract enough fans to help LA's bottom line.

I think people forget Kobe signed that contract during the Laker's three-straight Finals appearances so at the time it wasn't a huge deal. But now, of course it's more than he's probably worth. I think he accounts for 45% of LA's cap next year.

Yep. If anything, he's undervalued (since he literally sells tickets at every arena he goes to), but overpaid in the current system as far as taking up so much cap space.
