Winshares ain't a good advanced stat though.

You also don't need stats to know KAT is a horrible defender, he gets lost frequently on pick and rolls and goes for blocks way too often instead of just trying to alter the shot at the rim.

The Knicks are 21st in adjusted DRTG and were 28th last year with Porzingis anchoring their D:hubie:

It's not, however when 1 guy is an outlier among his peers it proves the point -

Playing next to Kanter with Jarret Jack at PG? When Frank is on the floor their defense is top 10 in the league.

105.3 DRTG when he's on the court, 114.9 DRTG when he's off the court. The issue is we're comparing him to a player who is the inverse of that, when KAT leaves the court his teams defense gets better :francis:

Even individual defensive statistics paint Porzingis as a bad defender multiple years in a row.

picture kanter on the opposite of KAT in the paint :dead:
picture jarret jack olaying his man right into KATs chest off the pnr
imagine last year having melo and d rose being turnstyles on defense and expecting one player to sure that up completely.

Derrick Rose as his PG? :ld:

KAT had Bricky Rubio who is a solid defender and still was trash.

The Knicks need to do everything in their power to get Mo Bamba or Jaren Jackson Jr is all I'm saying :hubie:

KP shouldnt be guarding stretch 4s ideally...and thats his biggest problem on defense...he cant close on them effectively...cause as mobile as he is he's still 7 foot
Karl towns starts at center and guards other bigs and doesnt have the burden of constantly being out there defending faster mobile players and still is horrendous at protecting the rim even though he's probably near the paint more than KP
he has horrendous defensive instincts in the pnr.

bro tell me what the bumba clot was towns doing here 1:47
dude couldnt commit to anything here. if you gonna ball watch bring help. if you gonna stay with the shooter stay there :dead:
awareness is trash
towns is an efficient offensive machine tho :hubie: id love him on my team :hubie:

My critique of KP isn't a defense of Towns. That boy is ass.

That said, the issue with moving KP to the 5 at this juncture is he simply would get abused on post ups and he doesn't rebound well.

That boy in Philly making these two softies irrelevant. Can't believe I thought K.P lapped Embiid. Although you can't really blame me I really thought this nicca was transitioning to Brian Cook/African Meyers Leonard status based on the first few games.
