When i first heard that song Ice Cream by Blackpink... aint no way any of them broads identify with those lyrics at first. Victoria Monet gave them that swag... Our culture is starting to become downloadable but some things can't be replicated so it's uncanny af.

Idk why everyone is/was pissed in this thread.

American [and by extension, African-American] music, arts, styles, and overall culture and media has been copied by the entire world.

Corny, fake and manufactured.
Read about K-pop Idol life...shyt is completely manufactured, they are just faces with draconic deals that make 360 look like an indie.

the difference between japan and korea is that Japan actually understands the artform and is transformative towards japanese interpretative fusion while k-pop just makes a b*stardized knock off versions of the original (like korean snacks vs japanese snacks), slap their name on it, and cut corners not really understanding the essential ingredients of the artform they are copying from and performs/delivers it in a very ignorant/mocking way....japan has nepotism, but the koreans themselves have cultural elitism so they think they are better than everyone else laughing behind closed doors, even that gangnam style fakkit said that he hated america in some interview before he blew up
You made some really good points and there's some great insight in the post, appreciate it.

But you're comparing apples and oranges regarding Japanese and Korean ethics and sensibilities. K-pop and Korean culture in general has had huge impacts in Japanese music, culture, art, even cuisine of late (the last 25 years.)

To suggest that the Japanese don't practice cultural elitism is staggeringly short sighted. In fact I'd go as far as to say that the Japanese conservatism and nationalism is leaps and bounds ahead of South Korea, to put it mildly.

Do you really think the Japanese like Americans? They might appreciate music and culture, trends, the rebellious types etc, but by and large they fukking hate you, trust me. Or more to the point, you disgust them. The Japanese think they are better than everyone, just like the Chinese do, just like the Koreans do. That's just what it is.

I absolutely hate that there is a whole generation of BLACK AMERICANS who don't listen to any Black Musicians
and instead listen to this derivative bullshyt.

:dead:
Motherfukkers know Korean Rappers bars word for word but don't listen to anything (BLACK) American made.

Major labels need to pay for their complete fukking destruction of Black American (Popular) Music.

BTW.
Guess which departments and groups were effected when they did their recent rounds of layoffs?

So many Black and Brown faces got their careers cut short and upended.
Another reason TDE is >>>>>
My homie kept their job.
My Engineer kept his job.
:yeshrug:
But over at Atlantic,Interscope, Defjam etc.
The :mjpls: happened.
