I like him and think he is great actor. I think he tries to hard to select quirky roles.

I can respect him not wanting to be the cliche action hero in a summer blockbuster

But I would like to see to see him do a few more different roles

Like someone mentioned eariler I think he would be great villian

Has Depp ever played a villain?

I think he was technically the bad guy in that flick where he was a writer with split personalities. Open Window or some shyt like that.

But anything else?

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Thread is real, but Blow is one of my favorites :ohlawd:

hard to believe that was over a decade ago. i think he's still a great actor. when you go down his list of roles, dude been in some GREAT movies since the 80s and 90s

can't blame him for wanting those fat 20 mil a picture checks now. you either sell out like him and murphy or you start doing b movies like pachino and de niro. now once in a while they come back and do a blockbuster. but when you start seeing that hollywood life going to the young men, you start taking whatever money you can get

He's been doing the same thing for too long: POTC and stupid Burton roles. So he's kind of typecast as this crazy guy or whatever and it doesn't work anymore.

I liked Sweeny Todd but that was the last good movie of his (unless I'm forgetting something).

Yeah
He needs to def play a villian.

That would be too dope to have him play William Tockman in a new batman film :krs:

Or Hugo strange :noah:

Bring back Tim to direct it and get Michael Keaton to play an old Bruce Wayne.

And Cast Terry McGuiness :youngsabo:

Unfortunately, he's become a caricature, and I blame Burton. :ehh:

He's not as popular as he was in the Capt Jack days and I think too many Burton film and so so flick have people jaded of him a bit.

He just needs to take more challenging roles again. He still is relevant but i just don't think he cares sometimes. I would have like to seen what he would have did if Nolan had the Riddler in the last Batman movie like originally thought and he got the role.

crazy to think that him and dicaprio were both in gilbert grape (1993,)

and then each took completely opposite career paths.

leo did titanic, and regrets it to this day, because he felt like people viewed him as a "pop actor," so he's spent the rest of his career in serious characters, and even turned down the part of neo in the matrix, because he was worried it would be titanic pt. 2.

johnny depp did serious movies for the next 10 years, then said f*ck it and cashed in in 2003 with pirates, and has been doing that trash for a decade now.

all in all, when you line up their filmographies next to each other, leo kills him from top to bottom.

depp is like the male megan fox. your girl loves him, and will watch whatever he's in, which inflates his box office numbers. guy could never carry a lead role, IMO.

Johnny's still relevant. He's easily one of the best actors in Hollywood right now. He's put out some great and good films over the past few years with movies like Sweeny Todd, Public Enemies, Alice In Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Rum Diary.
