This shyt has quite the pedigree. A over the hill legend, a media-forced hype job b-side (HBO tried SO HARD to piggy-back off the hype of the Mexican featherweights by pushing Ruiz as the first Mexican heavyweight champion.....but did any Mexicans actually fukk with this dude?), fighting for a paper championship, and three absolute debacles of fights, and then the last fight was a draw and they didn't even actually give any sort of resolution. :dwillhuh:

36 rounds of absolute struggle. :beli:

There can't be anything worse

Whoops, that was it. He was the first "Latino" heavyweight champion.

The first fight only happened because Lennox gave Ruiz the :beli: as his mandatory. So the shyt started awful, then the actual fights were worse, and then it ends on a draw :dead:

There absolutely nothing wavy about the entire situation.

Let's talk about how it ruined Holyfield's entire viability as a draw. Aging champions are always put to pasture against the new darlings. They wasted Real Deal's scalp on trying to get Ruiz over...and he couldn't even get the fukking job done :snoop: Then he wins the rematch and it's a complete debacle that Ruiz wins, then the story becomes about Holyfield being the heavyweight champ the most times and at an old age, but he can't beat Ruiz and Ruiz looks like trash for going even with a clearly diminished Holyfield.

Both of their careers came out for the worst at the end of this. Ruiz looked like a bum, Holyfield was washed up and after three stinkfests was no longer even a draw.

Imagine how much better off the Klitschko's fare in the U.S. if Evander is fed to Vitali or Wlad in 2000? shyt would have been a megabucks PPV fight. I mean Jesus, they had the actual fukking plot to Rocky IV right in front of them but Don King gonna Don King and thought he had the ingredients to mash up the game with a spanish heavyweight champ.

Goddamn...the John Ruiz/Evander Holyfield trilogy single handedly killed heavyweight boxing in the United States :whoo:
