If you know anything about Jay-Z's music, just like other people said in this thread, you know that he's been doin' this from the first album and on. Why it's a problem now, I got no clue. He had nikkas who rode the bus listenin' to him shyt on 4.0's cause he had a 4.6. He had nikkas with $20 in their pocket listen to him talk about "1 million, 2 million, 3 million, 4". That's what he does, and has done since the mid-90s. Jay-Z spitting some "relatable" shyt for his "core audience" has happened on other songs, but not the ones when he felt like bragging. Those have always been about how elevated his paper is compared to anyone else's. If you're offended by it now, then you shoulda been a long time ago. You wanna hear him make "average person" rap now when he's never been known to rap about anything average... it's about 16 years and whole lot of money too late to expect that outta him.

You missed the point by a mile.. and stop beating a dead horse. Everyone knows that Jay-Z has always bragged... it's what he does and that's what make him Jay-Z.

Like i said in my last post, "It's not that he's bragging and talking **** thats making him come off like a pretentous douchebag, it's the content of what he's recently been rapping about".

If you like hearing his uninspired raps about designer hand bags and European fashion culture in almost every one of his songs thats come out in the past 2 years then cool, but don't be suprised because the next person holds him up to a higher standard. I know this concept is new to most posters in The Booth, but you're not obligated to blindly dikkride everything your favorite rappers do.
