There is a small group of people who keep the US at the forefront of science, but overall the US is not a very science oriented country

Its like trying to use Silicon Valley as representative of all of the US in a discussion about how "scientific" we are, its goofy. The two things are not related

I dont know how much more I can break it down. There are ~6 million people working in science related fields- that includes engineers and school teachers.
