Because scoring the ball>>>>everything that ben is good at.

He is an offensive liability for them. It's 4 on 5 in close games in the fourth quarter. This isn't even worth the discussion.

If he didn't need the ball to be effective, you can get away with it. Since he needs the ball, that caps what this team can do.

They're not a team built to engage in offensive shootouts, not just because of Ben, but also because the rest of the the team shrinks in big moments.

Maxey: played 1 minute (that's on doc)
MIlton: 1-5
Korkmaz: 2-7
Hill: 1-5

Tobias Harris (the highest paid player on the team): 2-11.

They have a bigger issue of not getting it done in big spots. They guys who usually aren't offensive liabilities on that team become such. That hurts them more.

It's not just building around him. You saw the issue tonight - you better have a damn good backup point guard if your star PG can't have the ball at the end of tight games cause the other team just gonna intentionally foul.

That's a massive handicap. It ain't like a center who can't shoot cause center doesn't have to dominate the ball and pulling a center doesn't fukk up the whole flow of your crunchtime offense like pulling your PG does.

Ben Simmons is 6th on the team in usage level. He doesn't dominate the ball nearly as much as people think. Having an extra ballhandler who can facilitate would be nice, but that would be useful even if Ben had a jumper.

The free throws are a different monster altogether. That hurts a team no matter where he plays.

No. Ben with a halfway decent offensive game = top 3 player in the sport. Without it doesn't = bust. It makes it harder to build around him yeah, but it is crazy that y'all would trade everything he's good at for a jumper.
time to let it go breh. its been 4 years

halfway decent offensive game is a HUGE step from where he is now, he won't even try:hhh:

I've always said he should just have a "fukk it" game and just launch 20 of em from outside just so nobody begs him to shoot anymore.

I don't even think it's laziness or some unwillingness to work on it. He shoots with the wrong hand and he got a huge mental block. If Philly can't work around that anymore, that's fine, but I don't think they can exchange defense for more offense without turning into the Embiid version of the Trail Blazers.

"Usage" has nothing to do with how much someone dominates the ball, it just tells you who finishes plays and Simmons is shook to finish plays. Simmons averages touching the ball 5.8 seconds per possession, by far the most on the Sixers. That's a pretty normal number for a primary ballhandler, the same as Kyrie, Steph, Butler, Mitchell, Kemba.

And my point wasn't criticizing Simmons for dominating the ball. That's what a point guard is supposed to be able to do in the clutch. The issue is that that makes him an easy target for anyone looking to hack and send him to the line. If you sit him, you're forced to let a inferior backup run your crunchtime offense and we saw how that went.

Imma have to disagree with you.

Simmons being who he is magnifying all of these flaws. They need to move Simmons.

You are blaming role players for a "star" player being an offensive liability. This makes no sense.

I just don't understand it honestly. He is been in the NBA for too long. Time after time, he is a liability. Giannis attempts to improve and will eventually get there but Ben doesn't even pretend to want to try to shoot.
yea Giannis hit a hesi pull-up jumbo and a pull up three last night. He looking better tbh
