I've lived about a 15 minute walk away from Flatbush, Brooklyn (the neighborhood, not just the street) since 2006. I've been tight was Caribbeans for the last 25 years, since college. They don't use the word heavy. Maybe it has existed in the past but it's not a normal part of their lexicon like it is for us. For better or worse that word just comes out of our mouths, so it's ours and ours alone. You do realize people have been saying the N word in the Caribbean for centuries right? I have several older (80+ year old) relatives that I've heard say the n word. It's just pronounced differently than it is in America.
