Is it obvious the Detroit Lions need another stud reciever?

Stafford is good but come on he threw it 663 times last year :russ:

I think he threw the ball more times then anyone in history to get to 5,000

We do need a # 2 because Burleson is average, the main problem is the running game and suspect play calling tho'

Isn't that good?

U don't just stumble upon 5000+ yards and 41 TD's....I don't give a fukk who ur WR's are.

When you play in a dome, forget about the run, have to comeback in at least four games last season and to come back is to pass. Yes, you do stumble into 5000 yards. That is the most hollow season a QB could ever have. Stafford sucks and he has a fat fukking face.

:comeon: @ this thread.

Stafford was just missing a lot of throws last night. Everything was behind receivers or 10 feet over their head. He looks like he didn't work on anything during the offseason besides his knife and fork skills.

Even with all that, they were still hanging around all game.

What they need is a massive overhaul to the secondary, a defensive scheme that doesn't leave gaping holes to run through, two new DEs and a couple more linebackers.

Edit: And a coach to teach those fukks on defense how to tackle.

So you're saying that the Lions would be better with a stud receiver, eh?

I would venture to say every team would be better off with an additional stud receiver...

in these days...you almost do  how many good defenses has he played last year ?

stafford isnt bad but you knock him out of rhythm he starts panicking and makes some pretty bad decisions/throws, like the one he made yesterday right to goldson. that little bullshyt sidearm throw is :gag: status, you not rich gannon kid, sit da fukk down :lolbron:
I fukking hate that sidearm shyt he does anytime he is outside the pocket. Doesn't seem the coaches have tried to get him to eliminate it either. That plus his happy feet in the pocket even when there isn't any real pressure I'm sure contribute majorly to his accuracy issues. But weapons to get the ball too isn't the problem. I think the wr/te corp is more than solid. Only negatives I can really say about it are the Pettigrew has the most inconsistent hands in the L and not having Best as a safety valve really hurts too.

The playcalling doesn't do him any favors either. The 1st half gameplan is so conservative, and it frustrates the hell of most of us fans. If we see another shotgun draw to open the game or in the 1st 3 plays, nikkas just might riot.

And yseJ you already pointed out a major issue I have with the defense. I think they are horribly coached and do a terrible job of making adjustments. There is no way that trap play should have been just as effective this time, after you had a whole damn year to prepare. They don't adapt to the opponent at all. I really want to throw Gunther and Linehan both in the bushes. :birdman: There is plenty of talent on both sides of the ball and I think it's being underutilized. Complete lack of creative playcalling on both sides of the ball. Even if the secondary ain't spectacular, there's enough there to not be terrible on the run too.

Now the lack of a running game is a front office issue. We've hung on to the same tired lineman for far to long. Raiola gets blown up instantly and ruins any chance for us to have a consistent running game because his man is already 5 yards behind the los before the play can even develop. Can't wait til they finally give Reiff some minutes to see what they have. I know it was preseason, but he already looked like the best run blocker on the team. I also wanna see what our secondary looks like with Delmas, Bentley, and Houston all back. Them bums we put out there last night...I won't even bother acknowledging them. I wasn't that upset with what I saw last night as a whole. San Fran is a damn good team with much better coaching than Detroit has right now.

I watched dude play when he was at Highland Park, Georgia, & now Detroit and he has NEVER lived up to the potential scouts awarded him with...

as for last year, its the Daunte Cullpepper effect...when you have a receiver as good as Calvin it opens up all sorts of shyt for other receivers and its a QB's dream...its obvious teams are getting more creative with their coverage of Calvin, not making it too easy to read....

Matt does have one of the biggest arms in the league, and he's very physically capable...but mentally, he is not a top tier QB

Pretty Much.... Also throw in the fact that it was Lock Out year last season and Defenses struggled all around last year trying to catch up to what offenses were doing

Now that teams have had a full training camp you see that D's around the league have gotten better during the beginning stages of the season in comparison to last

People in here saying "Mathew Stafford just isnt that good" :rudy:

despite his stats last year, he was drafted in 2009 and was hurt early on as well. Id say hes certainly on his way

Powerful posting :lawd:

Linehan's been garbage from the get-go and the game has passed Gunther by. I'm sick of seeing multiple missed tackles on every play too.

Also, as I said in the Lions thread, Mayhew has been pretty shytty in the draft outside of Stafford, Suh and Levy (I'm holding off on the Delmas pick because though he's a good player, he's ALWAYS hurt).
